My sophomore novel COPE FIELD was named a Printz Honor Book today. I'm overwhelmed with gratitude to far too many people to name here. I want to say that never in my wildest dreams would I have believed this could happen, but I have always dreamed big. And you should, too.

Last night, 4 people were shot and killed and another was wounded by an AR-15 style rifle in a New York City office building. It was the 254th mass shooting this year. We’ve passed an assault weapons ban in 10 states—including New York. But Nevada—where the shooter is from, does not have one.

And yet Republicans want to make New York LESS SAFE by passing nationwide permitless carry in Congress and striking down state assault weapons bans in the Supreme Court. Shame.
