A funny thing happened when I was playtesting for Magonomia the #TTRPG of Renaissance wizardry yesterday. I wanted to try out a monster (a hydra) and the players pretty much refused to hurt it. The rules provided plenty of ways to get past the monster and the players kept getting creative.

In a D&D like #TTRPG there is more than one way to give PCs magic items. Sure, adventurers can find them in a tomb. But consider having them right some wrong for a ghost or spirit, then the spirit agrees to possess their weapon, making it enchanted, and help them for the rest of their career.
