I love being an old wolf who plays flutes, wears a toga and who orates and tells stories. How cool is it to be approaching my mid 60s and living among a community of much younger, fiercer, more attuned to survival critters who accept & encourage this sort of behaviour. 📷 @netsui-prime.bsky.social
The opening salvo of Tenebrae is delivered by The Blind Wolf. Very much an apocalyptic prophet modelled on seers and sages, a dark and imposing character. Son of Mother Lykaeon, he was born blind and yet can see deep beneath the surface of things. 📷 @netsui-prime.bsky.social
Photos like this remind us that wolves are sentient animals who form deep social bonds with their families. They experience joy, connection, and loss and deserve our compassion and protection.❤️
I’m reprising Tenebrae in Ravenna Park, Seattle, next Saturday (8/1), 7–10 pm. NOTAFLOF. Joined by @dirtsecret.bsky.social & @lunarrabbit.bsky.social performing their incredible & creaturely musics. Plus tea, vendors, an evening of poetry and ritual beneath the trees. Please come by & join the howl!
Getting ready for Saturday’s second performance of Tenebrae. As a child I was haunted by the image of wolves and kynokephaloi in togas. and here I am in the last quarter of my life actually getting to be one.
“My friend bought your book and they lent it to me, I hope thats ok” Yes, absolutely! Yes, yes—all my yes! Books are not to be hoarded but gifts of love and care to be shared. That my book was loaned to another is an expression of their love for you—using my work? Thats an incredible honour.
Someone said to me, "I'm sorry but I got your book from a library." Nobody should ever apologise for that. You read my book! That's brilliant! I grew up hanging out in libraries and the idea of a world without them fills me with dread. Without libraries, authors, like readers, will only suffer.

Went to St. Bread on Portage Bay waterfront earlier in the week. I was entranced by the stained glass window of maybe St. Honoratus of Amiens? Could be St. Nicholas of Tolentino associated with blessed bread distributed to the sick. I didn’t ask. The bread there was good and wholesome.
For a while I’ve dreamed of squeezing my heavy studio rig (1st pic) I perform with into an iPad (2nd Pic). I got the first version of it working, (kinda-ish) for Tenebrae at Terror in the Woods. Now I’m refining it; AUM hosts flute processing, Stagetraxx & bass pedals wirelessly connected.
We have a repeat of Tenebrae in a Park in Seattle and we need volunteers. Want to help put on a show? Are you free on 8/1. Click on the link below! forms.gle/YKX5NNgW6df2...

Life is "too short" if you spend it chasing guilt. Satanism is about living authentically, embracing hedonistic joy, helping others by choice rather than command, and creating your own meaning.
“The forest is not elsewhere. It is kept or lost. And how we hold one another. Tend the forest. Tend one another.”
The lighting @hellhound.industries set up for Tenebrae’s premiere at Terror In the Woods was amazing. This fit the mood beautifully. Wonderful Work and it was truly an honour to be able to close out the show which something written for that event. Thank you.
Final set checks before packing to heading out to premiere Tenebrae. I have been able to boil down my live performance rig to something portable and if the iPad futzes. The iPhone can take over. equipment I no longer need to carry. 🐾
Earlier this week, Wyoming Game and Fish Commission cut the wolf hunt limit by more than half as the population is at a 20-year low. As of Jan. 1, there were 132 wolves in the wolf management area in northwest Wyoming. 🔗 https://bit.ly/4vsJ4Ut

🚨Yellowstone's oldest wolf pack, Mollie's Pack, has been spotted outside Yellowstone National Park. Wyoming's wolf hunting season begins 9/15, and state wildlife officials voted Tuesday to allow the killing of up to four wolves in the area, putting the pack at greater risk. 🔗 https://bit.ly/4w7PycJ

Wyoming officials say they recognize the Mollie’s Pack’s historic significance and have taken steps to address the situation, but they rebuffed requests to adjust a hunting season that’s two months away.

We have more shows lined up so don’t worry if you can’t make it this weekend. I’d love to see you at terror in the woods but watch this space for more shows. Announcements soon. In the meantime
Coming to a forest this summer — watch this space.
Today’s lectoring I got lost. Recovered carried on. One of the gifts of proclamation is humility. No lector gives a flawless reading every time. What matters is offering the text as faithfully as Old Wolf can … at 9AM. Today’s reading was exactly that. Old Wolf was being faithful. Nothing more.
Today, reading the start of Paul’s wrapping up of his letter to the Philippians. There is a softness here. That line “shine like stars in the world” is for me the emotional high point of the passage. Also asked to be intercessor, to read the prayers of the people — a lovely responsibility.
I read from Matthew 21 at Evensong: juicy apocalyptic stuff. Many forget Christianity remained a Jewish messianic cult for decades. Matthew uses charged prophetic language from the Tanakh — Daniel, Isaiah, Ezekiel — and should be read carefully, with understanding & context. (NRSV passage in Alt).
I’ll be closing out Terror In The Woods next week on the 7/18 @4AM (technically 7/19) where I’m premiering Tenebrae, a continuation of the Lykaeon story — alongside a lineup of absolutely fine DJs who really know their shit. Come Back Come Through Come home terror-in-the-woods.hellhound.industries
