And buying these books to deny them to the world unless you pay them whatever is scumbag behavior. They don't care about the content, they just want control of info.
Because they’re both transformational technologies, right?

We have allowed social media to basically wipe out whatever traces of the Enlightenment remained & we are heading back to personalist authoritarianism & mysticism faster than anyone seems prepared to acknowledge. It's really fucking bad.
My hottest LLM take is if you rely on an LLM being "facts and statistics" about the training corpus rather than the corpus to argue it's not copyright infringement this necessarily implies that the result of this process is itself not a copyrightable work and therefore all weights are public domain.
