Reposting this yet again. Trump likens himself to TR because of TR's perceived testosterone level, I guess. But TR prefaced his first use of the "speak softly/big stick" line with words of self-respect, courtesy, serious preparation. He'd think Trump is a clown. New York Tribune, April 3, 1903

Theodore Roosevelt's first use of the adage, "Speak softly and carry a big stick," was prefaced with remarks about self-respect and courtesy. He wrote, "But though to boast is bad, and causelessly to insult another worse, yet worse than all is to be guilty of boasting, even without insult, and when called to the proof to be unable to make such boasting good."

That’s two “boy-who-cried-wolf” pieces to start the week. Will we get a third? 🌮 @politico.com @apnews.com www.politico.com/news/2026/08...

This is the way to use big accounts. KMK almost quit BlueSky some months back. He has found his calling. Expose these dipsh*ts for what they are. Fight the good fight! 💪🏽👊🏽

Someone on here (@jamellebouie.net?) noted a while back that dealership assholes like Moreno are a bedrock of MAGA politics and the Democrats would be wise to do whatever they can to drive these moronic middlemen out of business.

Willie Nelson, a lifelong environmental activist put out a statement on data centers today, specifically addressing the issue in his home town of Abbott, Texas.

Daily Kitty Alerted by menacing yowls, I come upon Earli passively watching Laddie & Tigger prepare to brawl (my squirt gun broke that up) His whiskers look very nice ❤️🐈‍⬛🐾

Daily Kitty The irony of this shot was I was frantically searching through the window to see where in the yard Mittens was napping (Earli was under my bedroom window) it turns out that she was only a few feet away from me in the deck😹

“Trump only yesterday demanded national airtime to rant about electoral conspiracy theories. Before one more member of the U.S. military is killed, he should return to the airwaves—and stand before Congress—to explain what he’s doing in Iran and how many more lives he’s willing to risk.”

Two more Americans dead, one missing. The president must tell Congress why he’s gambling with the lives of U.S. service members. www.theatlantic.com/national-sec...

“Trump has treated the entire world, including U.S. allies, as potentially hostile. His reckless and paranoid approach to security has left the United States less safe and the world less stable. The next administration will have to pick up the pieces.” It’s so easy to lose sight of “all this”

The difficulty of making credible nuclear threats hasn’t stopped some current leaders from trying their hand at it - including Trump and Putin in both Iran and Ukraine. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

I wrote this as a quote-post to go with every story about this regime. If it’s a bleet about vaccines, farm loans, forest management, civil rights, the national debt, negotiations with Iran, relations with NATO, military resupply, elections, corruption, or the World Cup, for example, this works.

During America's rise, it slowly developed a system of professional civil servants and agencies staffed with experts, administering everything from fish to nuclear weapons. Along came Trump & the Roberts court who said the president and a few cronies can run it all themselves. Turns out they can't.
