It's totally unprecedented, nothing like the same marketing hype cycle Anthropic did around their model "going rogue" and "breaching containment" recently. Not like that at all

US AI companies had the chance to advocate for an inclusive distribution of industrial capacity and investment that would have sustainably fueled this economy for decades. Instead they squandered it on a shitty concentrated datacenter bubble with no chance of return on investment.

My take on the ai in the kernel thing: I saw a kid die earlier this year so I’m pretty over writing code for anything except for paying my bills now so any “public good” code coming from me is going to be assisted because I believe it’s better for me to ship anything than nothing going forward.
