It's very interesting that cisgender female high school athletes are referred to as "girls" while transgender female high school athletes get called "men" it's almost seems like one group is being infantilized while the other is being aged up to seem worse in comparison but who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

A Swiss-headquartered international organization hired an Englishman to plan a halftime show featuring performers from Korea, Canada and Colombia for a soccer game between Spain and Argentina Here’s what that tells us about American sports

Do Americans actually like sport? They seem to feel there must always be something else going on to keep you engaged. Most fans just want the game to restart. We’re capable of enjoying the break.

okay obviously everything is very bad right now but I randomly learned about a long-running series of historical mystery novels about an Irish nun that I had just never heard of before and I cannot overstate to you how load-bearing this knowledge has become

(The flip side of this is, if a creative person is not tagged, and then they go ego searching and find they are being spoken of negatively, they should always resist the temptation to respond. They weren't invited to that conversation, and people are allowed to have opinions. Let them be.)

A gentle reminder that you should always resist the temptation to tag a creative person into a negative review of their work. It doesn't matter what your intentions are, it's kind of an asshole maneuver. You are free to say whatever you like, of course. Making it their problem, however, is not kind.

Apparently we're supposed to introduce ourselves first. ......oops I'm Bray. I'm a part-time library employee hoping to be a librarian one day. I also write things occasionally. I like nonfiction, creepy stuff, history, and mystery novels.

If you’re someone easily panicked by headlines I would like to gently recommend that you shift your news consumption model to one where you get an aggregated list of the stuff that has actually happened every few days, rather than staying super plugged in to up to date headlines.
