Last night’s #2040Target trilogue agreement had the tricky task of balancing conflicting positions on aspects relating to the controversial introduction of international credits to meet the target:

🚨 EU Parliament adopted a 90% net emissions reduction by 2040, averting far-right attempts to scrap it ➡️ caneurope.org/eu-parliamen... But the deal comes with compromises. Midway through #COP30, the EU must raise ambition and close loopholes to ensure real climate action.

🤯Despite promising to back the ENVI Cttee deal on the EU 2040 climate target, parts of the EPP are now trying to weaken it, pushing to cut the goal to 83% net, further delay ETS2, and undo key improvements! 🚫 The EPP should stop these dirty games, and keep its word to stand by EU climate action!
