Someone taped a Langston Hughes poem to one of the remaining plaques commemorating Ona Judge, the young woman enslaved by George Washington, who escaped in Philadelphia in 1796.
However there are volunteers standing by telling the history of the enslaved people at the President’s House. In some places, pages have been taped up with the texts from the missing plaques
