Thinking of Nadia Murad and all my #Yazidi friends on this sad day. The work continues to build a world where no other people—Yazidi or otherwise—faces persecution or extermination. All Yazidi survivors deserve justice.

In Germany, world-leading prosecutions against ISIS members for the genocide of the Yazidi have occurred and Australia is set to follow with landmark prosecutions underway.

Describing civilian deaths in airstrikes as a “mistake” or “collateral damage” does not exonerate you. All potential war crimes require investigation and accountability.

Arbitrary arrest, extrajudicial killings and fierce political repression have already turned #Nicaragua from a democracy into an authoritarian state. Now Daniel Ortega wants the country to become an outright dictatorship - no human rights, no elections.🇳🇮

One of the highlights of my trip to Kenya has been the opportunity to engage with key figures from civil society, such as David Maraga, Emeritus Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court, and Claris Ogangah, current Chairperson of the Kenyan National Commission for Human Rights. 🇰🇪

What is the future of human rights and international justice in a fractured world? Thanks to @AusHCKenya for partnering with @MurdochUni for this event. Now is not a time for despair. We are here to shape the future, not to fear it. 🇰🇪🌍

What a day! Thank you to all the members of Kenyan civil society, government and the diplomatic corps who came to join the discussion. I am thoroughly inspired. A better world is possible. 🇰🇪🌍
