If you can’t resist picking up a pebble or a perfect shell at the beach this photo is for you. There are 7 scallops (the shell Botticelli’s Venus was standing in) to find among the treasure:

I LOVE that Year 6 pupils in the UK are to be given a book for Christmas as part of the National Year of Reading, but it’s also important to acknowledge that a national cohort of 10/11 year olds are not going to want to read the same book. Reading for pleasure also requires the ability to choose.

We’re never going to live on Mars. We’re never going to live on the Moon. There is no Planet B. We need to take care of our magical mystical miraculous planet like it’s the only home we will ever have. Because it is.

The news is out. I’ve been selected for Penguin’s WriteNow 2026! As well as support and training on establishing an author career, I get to work with Puffin editor, Emma Wood, on my ‘deliciously dark and funny’ lower middle-grade novel, Danny in the Dragon’s Den. Beyond exciting!!!! 🐧📚🎉

In this wild news cycle, it feels like one of Farage’s claims has got lost. If a mob of 50 people attacked him in a pub then wrote off his car, surely there’s photo or video evidence, or a police report or something? Why did this not make the news? Investigative journalists please do your thing!

UK publishing generated £7.4 billion in revenue last year. Compare that to: Premier League football: £6.6 billion Home entertainment: £5.6 billion UK film industry: 2.8 billion Now tell me again why authors don't deserve fair contracts and better pay.

Sir David Attenborough… on your 100th birthday, we thank you. For a lifetime dedicated to the natural world, and for sharing its story with such grace and wonder. Generations have fallen in love with nature because of you. Happy birthday, Sir. 🎉

This photograph captures Sir David Attenborough seated outdoors on the rugged terrain of Skomer Island. Behind him, the ocean and coastal cliffs form a scenic backdrop under a clear sky. Sir David, dressed in a khaki jacket and light trousers, looks towards the camera with a gentle expression, exuding a sense of warmth, calm, and wisdom. Around him, puffins can be seen flying and perched on the rocky ground, illuminated in rays of golden sunlight as the sun sets behind the cliffs.

"I grew up across the street from a public library, and it was the only place my mom would let me go on my own. It was my second home, and I read everything that I could get." ~ Tracy Chapman Chapman by Nicholas Albrecht #Booksky
