We are making a game with torn cards and powerful relics! - Recompose cards to adapt to every situation - Discover emergent synergies each run - Meet dangerous foes in this Dark Fantasy universe It's called Near Mint and it has a free demo!

Near Mint Demo got an update! We reworked some visuals, improved UX and Quality of Life, and added new fragments and updated relics! If you did not play the demo yet, this is the time!

I had this idea for a 4-player dynamic splitscreen setup. Not sure if it's better than a traditional splitscreen setup, but I like the fact that you can see the relative locations of other players visually. There's interesting code behind this, I might write a blog post about it! #godot #gamedev

Genuinely, this concern about AI is one of the reasons why I think having friction in video games is good and why it's increasingly important to have games that simply exist instead of catering to our expectations. Reposting this message from Kojima about "pre-digested" art:

And he said, "If everyone likes it, it means it's mainstream. It means it's conventional. It means it's already pre-digested for people to like it. And I don't want that. I want people to end up liking things they didn't like when they first encountered it, because that's where you really end up loving something."

“The Al is not just telling you what you want to hear. It is training you, one conversation at a time, to need less friction, expect more agreement, and become slightly less capable of handling a situation where someone pushes back on you”

🐛 NEAR MINT DEMO 🏹 Our demo is out! Expect 2 different characters to play and 2 biomes full of bizarre enemies to defeat. 🧌 The demo has >100 cards, 18 enemies and >40 relics. The boss depicted in this video is the final boss of the demo, and we did not show it anywhere yet 😳

We announced Near Mint showing 2 characters: 🛡️The Verdigris Paladin: a hero who plays with block synergies, discards and buffing his attacks. 🪤The Forlorn Stalker: she is specialized in traps, inflicting status such as poison and freeze, and sending a lot of attacks in the same turn.
