I'm planning on putting the puzzle packs on hold for now to focus on releasing different Daily Akari colour themes that you might be able to buy via the Ko-fi page. I'm excited to see how it feels to play with different colour combinations.

I've mostly gotten Daily Akari working as an installable app. The main problem is that it doesn't work while offline. In order to get that to work it looks like it requires a pretty big refactor. But I'll try my best to get it working!

I played around with updating Daily Akari's graphics API. I was worried it would increase load times too much, but surprisingly my tests so far show that load times actually decreased on PC, and only increased slightly on mobile.

DA performance update: It looked like I had significantly improved the game performance, but it turns out as soon as I start playing the game, the performance dips back to roughly the same as before :(. BUT with the changes, along with an update to the graphics API, there are major improvements.

Finished optimizing the walls and the light rays. Basically only have the main grid spaces left to finish optimizing. It'll be interesting to measure and compare the difference in FPS from before and after all the changes.

Finished optimizing the Xes, number sprites, cell outlines, and the grid outline so far. Next up are the cells and walls themselves. Once it's all done it should hopefully reduce the number of draw calls per frame from over 1000 in some cases to just 6-7.

Still working on the big performance update. It's a little complicated - sometimes there are complex animations that happen on things that make it so they can't batched together, and when those animations happen I need to do some game dev magic to secretly replace them with other objects.

Currently each cell and X and outline in Daily Akari has its own draw call. I'm trying to make some big changes so that the entire grid is treated as one draw call. I think this should drastically improve performance. Finished with the Xes so far.

I conquered Daily Akari No,434 in O.N.G.E.K.I.🤩🤩 (Fun fact: Daily Akari No.434 is actually based on the song "THE CELESTIA 180" from ONGEKI! The board itself is designed to look like a part of the jacket art) here is official MV→https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUc51ufck9g

When I started making Akari I just set out to make a fun game. I noticed that an important part of the fun is the feeling of learning. I've been seeing companies say they're trying to make learning fun with their product, and maybe I'm crazy, but isn't it already fun by default?

Today is the memorable 500th puzzle of Daily Akari. Today’s puzzle is credited to “Akari部からの挑戦状”(“Akari Addicts”), made through the massive collaboration of Akari Addicts.……Including me!

I've been trying to set up Daily Akari merch for a while. I wanted to have at least one item that didn't have to ship from the US for all the international players. Unfortunately 2/3 of the samples I ordered for the international item were misprinted so I'm not sure if I feel comfortable selling it.
