NEW! Today we @immcouncil.org released our new framework for a credible and humane interior immigration enforcement system. What does that look like? It starts with four basic principles: - Compliance - Safety - Proportionality - Accountability

1.	Compliance: Government Should Make Rules that People Can Follow, and Get People to Follow the Rules
2.	Safety: Law Enforcement Should Protect Communities from Threats, Not Treat the Community as a Threat
3.	Proportionality: Consequences for Violations of Civil Immigration Laws Should Be Tailored, Reasonable, and Humane
4.	Accountability: Agencies and Agents That Abuse Their Power Should Be Reined In or Pushed Out

NEW: Today we’re releasing a framework that lays out a roadmap for replacing indiscriminate mass deportation with a safer, smarter, and more humane approach to immigration enforcement.

Labour will say “your strategy of implementing proportional representation and putting forth a sensible left-wing agenda pales in comparison to my strategy of winning over Reform voters” and then not win over any Reform voters.

I would love to watch a Lebowski / Tremors / Dune crossover about a washed up hippie who takes too may hallucinogens and starts thinking they’re Paul Atreides at the same time that their small desert town runs into graboids.

@jonrauch.bsky.social I'm glad to see you finally acknowledging it, but I'm surprised that you're not really grappling with why you were personally so late to recognizing it or dismissive of people who got there earlier. Seems like an opportunity for reflection or like some mea culpas might be due.

"Recent events have brought Trump’s governing style into sharper focus," Jonathan Rauch argues. "'Fascist' best describes it, and reluctance to use the term has now become perverse." theatln.tc/wVq7MFaa

He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.... For protecting them, by a mock Trial, from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States:

alt history where the louisiana territory stays culturally french but has a revolution to become independent; spain keeps the western US but mexico still has a revolutionary war; and Greater Mexico is the dominant superpower in north america

How did the @nytimes.com editors let this sentence appear? "Critics have likened Mr. Trump’s approach to extortion, while others have chalked it up as a cost of doing business with this administration." www.nytimes.com/2025/11/26/u...
