An equal pro and con for working for a blue state: When your employer makes a shady technical decision, everyone hears about it. This is so wild after working in sketchy private sector companies who do whatever they want with no judgement.

You can’t “just get over” something no one apologized to you for. And if you’ve made someone hate things about themself, you’re probably not an actual “friend” or “family”.

So, like, marriage is pretty much telling your spouse about something you “just learned” that they actually told you about 6 years ago. Back and forth. Forever.

Worked at a tech conference today, retrieving orders for attendees. One man rudely barked that he already gave me his claim number, and when I went to see who he had actually talked to, it was an older, shorter Asian woman with longer hair. Dude didn’t realize he got to talk to TWO women today.

Taking a 4 hour tech test with multiple code challenges AND a multiple choice quiz to get an interview only shows that a candidate has literally nothing else they could be doing for 4 hours.

Y’all (especially recruiters): if you are rejecting someone, it is needless to use the phrase “I know it’s not the news you want”. That’s literally the definition of rejection.

Here’s a new one: Got a call on Tuesday about a job I interviewed for to say the offer is imminent. Got a call today saying oops, they actually had meant to call someone else: the person who actually got the job.

“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” but in this current job market the statistics aren’t much different than for the 100% of the shots you DO take. 🫠

Does anyone else feel like in this current tech job climate it feels very presumptuous to even ask about next steps in an interview or follow up? Like there are so many talented folks looking for jobs, if I’m just mid I respect a company’s choice to just ghost me.
