Timothy Doyle - Mostly art and underappreciated New England Cities.

I've watched and read a lot of Hannibal Lecter stuff, not because I like crime or horror stories, but because I respect a real liberal arts guy.

* Worcester specific post * I think we have this whole car crash thing wrong. She was clearly preemptively formulating an argument against protected bike lanes on Harrington Way.

When I was a kid there was an all big-band station in Worcester called WNEB. My great uncle had it on constantly in his Vernon Hill three-decker apartment. I also associate those memories with the refrigerated Lorna Doone cookies he gave me. At the time I was most excited because they had MTV.

A thread devoted to Jacob Lawrence, one of most acclaimed American painters of the 20th century, born #OnThisDay in 1917. Fitting that today is Labor Day since work & labor were among his most enduring themes. First up: Home Chores, 1945, painted soon after he returned from military service in WWII

Painting of a Black woman in house dress, apron, & slippers, washing dishes at a sink

My gf: Are you going to vote today? Me: Probably not, Markey has it in the bag and we have no state rep race in our district. GF: Markey is leading by double digits in the polls. Me: Yeah but that doesn't mean anything because of low voter turnout....oh shoot...I guess I'm going to go vote!

Does music become "oldies" or "classic rock" based on relative age? Like, are The Strokes classic rock and Nirvana are oldies? Or, is membership to "oldies" and "classic rock" frozen at the time we started calling music that?

I really hope that the MBTA doesn't use these Worcester line service cuts for necessary track repairs to permanently cut the schedule back. (As someone who wanted to take a non-rush hour train tomorrow)

It is somehow very funny to me that the fridge in the employee area at the museum is filled with lunches and Gatorade bottles from the operations and security staff and Ione bottle of champagne labeled "curatorial"

Artists that people think aren't deserving of the limelight have a huge advantage because when they get some attention from galleries or institutions, there are a lot of viral articles about them being undeserving, and I'm unsure that there is such a thing as bad publicity.
