Every day as I walk my 17yo dog in her stroller & walking harness & get to hear unsolicited advice, ableism, and eugenics from strangers I wish disability studies were mandatory. Some stalk us with (“it’s worms” or “it’s the dry food”), few blurt out inappropriate things/laugh but most sigh in pity.

I've always loved this passage from Metz on the dangers of cinephilia. There's a kind of analysis of film that is trapped by the author's love of the medium; one that always ends up only saying, "Oh, great cinema! How we love you!"
