NBC calls the primary for Abdul El-Sayed! The results may look close. But remember, Stevens had over $60 million in establishment and corporate support. This is a crystal clear indication that Democratic voters, even in swing states, support socialized healthcare and firmly oppose genocide ✊
Great news for cinema & disability studies scholars! The Film & Media Studies Journal Cinéma & Cie just published a special issue on "Reimagining Access: Crip Media Aesthetics and Infrastructures," co-ed by the brilliant @p8ja.bsky.social. Best part? It's open access & y'all can enjoy it!
Vest update! I finished the bottom and sleeves ribbing and it fits very well. I’m now about to attempt @samantha-west.bsky.social’s suggestion to fold the neckline using @dataphageposs.bsky.social’s inner spirals embroided style. Hope it works, I’m starting to like this weirdo. #knitsky #crochet

Name your fav cartoon character.
I made four smaller granny squares that need joining and a round of yellow. It can then turn either into a blanket like y’all suggested or maybe with some ribbing a vest/pullover? Can I pull off a vest? #knitsky #crochet #wip #newbie #psychedelic
I got some rainbow yarn and started making something. Not sure what. I got more yarn. Any suggestions? #knitsky #crochet

Every day as I walk my 17yo dog in her stroller & walking harness & get to hear unsolicited advice, ableism, and eugenics from strangers I wish disability studies were mandatory. Some stalk us with (“it’s worms” or “it’s the dry food”), few blurt out inappropriate things/laugh but most sigh in pity.
My beloved comrade @sfdirewolf.bsky.social said many kind things about this book, including 'This book stands out among a sea of books in this genre. Insightful, tender, and compassionate. A must read for everyone since we are all touched by grief.'
ALL MY DEAD CATS AND OTHER LOSSES, my book about grief; who is allowed to mourn and how; and why people want to pathologize the experiences that make us human, is available now in print, ebook, and audiobook formats, wherever fine books are sold (or loaned, shoutout to libraries).

A friend asked if the lettuce is okay. A friend asked if the parsley is okay. A friend asked if the eggs are okay. A friend asked if the cilantro is okay. My friends none of this is okay.
I've always loved this passage from Metz on the dangers of cinephilia. There's a kind of analysis of film that is trapped by the author's love of the medium; one that always ends up only saying, "Oh, great cinema! How we love you!"

1. Why do you think this was held outside? WH wasn’t accessible. 2. Yes, the 90s weren’t some amazing time of equity, but this wouldn’t get a vote today, let alone persist for two years, which is how long it went back and forth until 3. Disabled people won this with their bodies.

At Berlin pride a vehicle rammed into crowds at the city's annual Christopher Street Day Pride celebrations, killing one person and injuring more than a dozen. Why isn’t this trending on Bsky? Where’s the outrage?

One of the points I make in The Celluloid Specimen is that behaviorists were drawn to classroom tech for the same reasons they used lab animals: complete control over the environment and surveillance of the bodies in them. Schools were where you tested and refined ideas, tech, etc. And, well...

Yes, and thank you. I’m so tired of yelling about this on here. Supposedly radical leftists, folks running for office, public servants, important orgs, don’t even try. If you can’t add alt text to your posts (after I’ve repeatedly pointed it out politely) I don’t believe a word you’re saying.
Btw, everybody yelling at us for no alt text on InfoWars posts: You're right. We're sorry. We've got a whole new setup on the new account for Bluesky specifically and we're trying to navigate it. Apologies again and we're fixing it.
