Here for the baseball banter
Love that the Cubs are celebrating their playoff berth in Pittsburgh in front of the remaining 150 Pirates fans and another 100 Cubs fans
if you're reading this, I promise spending less time online (especially the *bad* places) and more time experiencing reality and making real connections will improve your mental health. longer form content will also improve your cognition and mental sharpness.
Cubs fans treated to another road win, but can you imagine going to PNC last night as a Pittsburgh Pirates fan? The worst team in sports has sunk to a new low after hyping up guys like Henry Davis and Oneil Cruz as “Superstars in the making” but hey, the team is EXTREMELY PROFITABLE. There is that.
MLB TV ratings are up across the board. The sport has been gaining popularity. The idea that owners are going to risk losing games in order to demand a salary cap is ludicrous. Baseball has more parity than most major sports. Don’t think that the CBA in 2027 is going to save your low revenue team.
Are there fans who are seriously banking on a salary cap? I sincerely hope that's not a majority view!!
The biggest part of the Pirates sham is they hype guys like Oneil Cruz & Bubba Chandler to be the saviors of the team. Imagine how bad they would be without Skenes. Now you have fans banking on a salary cap that is not going to happen. Sad.
Funny MLB is talking about expansion when there is one team in every division that is practically begging to be relegated.
The Dodgers are coming to Pittsburgh tonight and it’s laughable that some fans still think an MLB salary cap will be on the table in 2027. There is only one person pushing this narrative that I know of. A guy named DK in Pittsburgh. He’s only doing it for the clickbait. Obviously its not happening.
Amazing how many friends I’ve lost to Fox News. Something they do hypnotizes people
Pennsylvania is weird, man. They were pushing this “REAL ID” A few years back. I go to renew my drivers license so I asked about it. Even brought my passport but it wasn’t enough. “Sorry, we need 2 other forms of ID plus 2 pieces of mail. 😂
Sadly, some people in Pittsburgh will still attend baseball games in August & September. I really hope the owners don’t cancel games in 2026. Teams like the Pirates should not be rewarded for not giving a shit. MLB does not need a salary cap. There is more parady than other sports already
Pirates are saving 9 mil from the next several years by trading Ke’Bryan Hayes. Reds fans won’t love the move, but they really needed to improve their defense
Last night was Yinzerpalooza in Pittsburgh. How many of the 25,000 I attendance at the Pirates game know anything about this years team? 1/3? Maybe, but that might be generous. It was fireworks night. In typical fashion they lost 10-1 to go 20 games under on the season.
Not too worried about the Yankees. They are 11-18 going into the break including 2 long losing streaks. Probably not a good team. Blue Jays are decent. I wouldn’t count out the Rays
Fair. It’ll depend on the deadline and what teams get. If yanks and jays load up, everyone is in trouble in that division.
I think it really depends on how their young players develop.
They have the 3rd hardest schedule in baseball after the break and have played a decent amount more at hole than the road so far. They are terrible in the road. I’d note that Cora is routinely letting his guys throw over 100 pitches and using the same 3 relievers. They’re set to tank
I hadn’t noticed the Red Sox. They have won ten in a row and are looking like buyers at the deadline. They have gotten better since unloading Devers.
I’m not surprised the Pirates are 0-8 on this road trip. I would have been more surprised if they took a couple of games. What surprises me is that I’m actually paying attention or that anyone is for that matter
Pittsburgh Pirates are extra excited this month. They could potentially dump Bednar, Hayes, Keller and more. They remain one of the most profitable teams in baseball. People keep coming to see fireworks and eat pirogi’s. Same ol’ Sham
The Pirates sham is most obvious when they actually have some success. Like right now. They could leverage all of this good pitching to create a winner, but they are much more interested in unloading salary. Keller & Bednar will bring big savings. Perhaps others as well
Important series for the Mets. The June swoon is over and they better get it together in July. Brewers are solid. Mets need to take two.
Its really sick, especially considering what a great franchise it once was. Im old enough to remember aunts and uncles who talked about what a BASEBALL town Pittsburgh was.
I mention the Pittsburgh Pirates a lot on here. I think the reason I do that is because I think it’s tragic the way they exploit their fanbase. They intentionally build up false hope and unrealistic expectations to squeeze every last dime they can get out of the city. It’s always the same sham.
The Pirates would be thrilled to dump both Keller’s salary and Bednar’s to the Cubs. I don’t think they would be too picky about the return and I also don’t think they would use the money on someone else. It’s all going to the bottom line. 💰
The Yankees offense has been in a funk for almost 3 weeks now. They are hoping the ball if flying out of Great American Ballpark tonight. They look to avoid a sweep as the RAYS and JAYS make their case for winning the powerful AL EAST.
The Mets are throwing out Clay Holmes and the Cubs are relying on Matt Boyd today. Both teams have struggled in June. Mets already surrendered first place while the Cubs are clinging to an ever shrinking lead in the NL Central division. JUNE SWOONS
