Continued, The Boy From Venus #8, in which we start to learn about Val.

Panel 5: Val looks up at her, more shocked than angry, and says "SO YOU'RE JUST GONNA LET --"

Panel 6: Val puts her fingers to her chest in the 'referring to me' gesture and interrupts Val, replying "VAL, I KNOW, OKAY?? I'M A WOMAN. I KNOW."

Panel 7: Fatima's expression is serious as she continues explaining, "But, my family relies on this arcade for income. And the income has been going DOWN. Hell, my lil sis needs this arcade to go to college."

Panel 8: Fatima puts her palms together, distraught, begging Val, saying "Val, PLEASE. Just show people you CAN be beat. Just this ONCE. And I will NEVER ask you to do anything like this EVER AGAIN."

Panel 9: Val now puts her hands out in an offering gesture, having started sweating and moved onto negotiating, and says "I'll comp your entry fee! I'll even give you the prize money you would've won!"

Panel 10: Val looks slightly to the side in a long, contemplative pause.

Panel 11: Val looks forward and delivers her answer, clearly with some hesitation: "Fine, Fatima. Just this ONCE, I'll do that for you."

Panel 12: Fatima pulls Val into a hug over the counter, blushing and smiling, yelling "OH THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!" A gentle smile creeps across Val's face.

Panel 13: As Val leaves, a smile still on her face, Fatima waves her off, also smiling, and says "Have a good night, Val!"

Panel 14: Val gives a peace sign back to the smiling Fatima and responds "Later, Fatima!"

Panel 15: Fatima turns her head away as her expression secretly falls into one of deep shame.

Panel 16: Val's expression, as she walks facing away from Fatima, secretly becomes one of anger and frustration, her teeth clenched and her eyes wide.
