Lifelong gaming fan, but I'm ESPECIALLY big on Nintendo! I'm also a massive animation fan! Primarily Warner Bros. and their related animation divisions! Also watches anime (shonen, idol, seinen, and what-have-you). Feel free to interact!

Popped into the other site to see bad YCSE takes and instead I see Former Capcom employee Atsushi Tomita casually mentioning that Street Fighter II V was originally supposed to be based on Virtua Fighter and Next Senki Ehrgeiz was supposed to be a Cyberbots anime lol

"The character designs in Street Fighter II V look unmistakably like those from Virtua Fighter, which always left me wondering what happened. I recently heard that the studio behind it had originally intended to make a Virtua Fighter anime, but lost the rights so they made this instead. It all makes sense when you consider that production might have started under the assumption that it was going to be a Virtua Fighter project”

“In the case of Cyberbots, Capcom ultimately denied the license following negotiations with an animation studio. As a result, the project was reworked—changing the character names and designs— into Next Senki Ehrgeiz. An animator once stated that, due to a premature start, production actually began using storyboards that featuring Cyberbots characters.”

• People who pioneer/walk on new paths, who understand and create with their own flavors, will matter more and more in the era overflowing with shoddily made works. Elsewhere in the interview, Sakurai also admitted that like unusual food, some people dislike original creations … 3/

• Games with a simple system, such as Librarian: Tidy Up the Arcane Library, are very easy for AI to imitate. • AI may produce something similar to Ueda’s Ico or Shadow of the Colossus, but can’t make what Ueda will create in the future—the “originality” that only humans can possess. 2/

In a LONG interview with Denfaminico Gamer, Masahiro Sakurai said the following about AI-made games: • There are too many Steam releases, and AI makes it worse. Most are “titles that can’t eat”, i.e. unprofitable. • Shoddy AI-made games mostly just reproduce systems existing in other games. 1/
