one day i’m going to fully blur the lines between “fun account” and “serious account” and start posting about nogizaka on here. i know myself. should just follow @ca.rter.io’s example and have no fear of going full wota under my full legal name.

for people not familiar with Os Saltimbancos, it’s the Brazilian version of the Italian musical I Musicanti; it’s based in the tale of the Bremen musicians, turned into a communist allegory. Chico Buarque sneaked it into Brazil during the very anti-communist military dictatorship. it’s amazing.

i was like – is it botões or borbotões? why do i think it’s borbotões? is that even a word, what does it mean? i’ve finally identified the source of my confusion. the first time i ever heard this expression was in the children’s musical Os Saltimbancos, which takes poetic license to say “borbotões”

Track “O Jumento” from album “Os Saltimbancos”. Lyrics:

“E chorar, e chorar aos soluços
E pensava com meus borbotões”

there’s a portuguese expression, “pensando com meus botões”, literally “thinking with my buttons”, for when you’re introspecting / pondering things on your own i never used it, bc every time i thought of using it, my brain wanted to say “borbotões” instead of “botões”, and made me very confused

thinking about WCAG Guideline 3.1 – Readable... in 3.1.3 Unusual Words, one of the sufficient techniques is "linking to definitions". would having a unusual term's definition appear on hover in a tooltip-style, rather than linking away to a definition, be "un-semantic"?

Back when I was finding my feet in tech everybody was buzzing about building positive change. Somewhere along the way, something changed. Fortunately for us though, tech is not the first industry forced to defend itself against dubious practices. What might we learn if we were to look elsewhere?

my dream is for Brazil to move on from using WhatsApp as the default messaging app so i can leave it behind and never touch it again

having to do some heavy “spring cleaning” on figma files i worked on in a chaotic manner with different iterations all over the place is truly daunting. time to face my hubris.
