Seeing this consistently now regardless of how significant the search is or isn't. Google AI overviews have a habit of citing Redditors first with stuff like, "According to Redditors" or "As noted in discussions on Reddit". Pops up for both medical and legal searches.

Started noticing Google AI overviews for medical searches that rely on Redditor opinions before citing doctors. Nothing can go wrong there for sure.

Started playing Battlefield 6 a bit again and holy fuck, I need the game to stop overriding my objective orders. I'm deliberately telling people to defend or capture a point and then it decides naa, go somewhere that makes no sense instead.

I'll never stop being bewildered by Google's quality dropping. I'm still working on my Echoes of Aincrad guides and came across what has to be a genAI website ranked at the top. It has a bunch of basic information that's outright wrong. 1/3

Not that it's new, but I continue to be annoyed at searching popular Discord channels for information. I tried searching a question, found tons of people asking the same question, and everyone is ignoring them. If there's an answer somewhere, I'm not going to find it.

Started noticing a lot lately on Google that the different filters are all missing except "All" and "AI Mode". So I frequently can't search by Images, News, etc. I'm sure it's a bug, but it makes you wonder.

Not that I should spend much energy on random comments, but it's always interesting how people will say a game had zero marketing because they didn't know about it. Meanwhile, it could be something that was heavily marketed everywhere haha

What if I told you that all of the Publishing Agreements I have reviewed in the last 6 months (several dozen) included a no gen AI provision, wherein the use of gen AI in development is a material breach, but companies like Epic and EA are still trying to convince us the industry is cool with it

He's only gone and written 2,500 more words about how game devs feel about generative AI. Latest piece quotes around two dozen different people with an indie background. When asked how they feel about gen AI, not one, but two devs responded, "Fuck that shit." www.gamesradar.com/games/it-cre...

Haven't been on Battlefield 6 since November, but I may have stayed up too late on the new Tsuru Reef map haha. Fun to have a larger map, but I'll never get the level of teamwork across large maps that the early Battlefield games had. i miss commander mode

It's always been risky to google character names especially with the way the autofill will toss "death" in there, whether accurate or not. But my favorite nowadays is the unavoidable AI overview spoiling everything immediately.

Echoes of Aincrad has many little annoying things, but man, why do they tell you to follow the roads and then have some that lead out of bounds? They're not even blocked off with rocks or destroyed bridges to prevent you from going there. It just teleports you backward. 1/2

Noticing a trend lately where people will say an article is clickbait if they don't like it, rather than it actually being clickbait. Wonder if it's a reading comprehension issue or perhaps an inability to describe their thoughts.

As the article mentions, this is pretty much nothing new. You'll see clones for both niche and popular games. The worst part of it is often the monetization and the fact that many people will only experience the worst version of the game they're playing a clone of. 1/2

That's going to be rough with them still working on The Outer Worlds 2 DLC and Grounded 2 after going through layoffs. While still worrying about the next batch of layoffs as well. Hopefully this doesn't just lead to crunching under a shitty situation. Good luck to that team.

BREAKING: Obsidian Entertainment is making a big pivot as part of the Xbox restructuring. It has laid off a quarter of its staff, canceled a planned sequel to Avowed, and is now beginning work on a new Fallout game, according to people familiar with the plans www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

Since the Echoes of Aincrad embargo lifted, I can continue to not exist for the next couple of weeks as I fill out the IGN wiki! Working through the walkthrough for it, so it should take some time, but it's nowhere near as beefy as Crimson Desert was haha
