Occasionally, we embellish our own motives & intentions. Make them sound a bit more benevolent or reasonable than they are. But if you are 'concerned' or 'worried' about immigration & your 'worry' is limited to people of colour, then it's not 'worry', it's racism. #GoodMorning, everyone.

So on the same day that Belarus releases political prisoners in exchange for USA plane spares, Russia just happens to get the Polish/Belarus border closed through flying drones to the Poles. The Bear reminds Belarus who is boss.

In nations like ours, it really isn't. It's massively overemphasised. Why? Because, like litter, food waste is a politically safe subject. Almost all useful pre-consumer waste has already been mopped up by initiatives like FareShare. The rest is post-consumer - ie compost.

The current attack-point for exceptionalists blaming Europe for the consequences of the UK's Brexit decision is "No negotiation without notification". This was the Union's and the member states' insistence that we would not negotiate with the UK outside of the Article 50 process. A 🧵
