Nancy Drew: Girl Detective

Having a Jimothy Summer. Plus Seattle Storm, UW Huskies, Seahawks, Title IX, democracy, the Innocence Project, choice, ICWA. SCOTUS sucks. Huge Seattle Mariners fan every Sept-Oct. Former public defender, current tribal attorney. Dual US-NZ citizen. 🇺🇸 🇳🇿
Whatever it may be I just know Sirens' mascot and Valks' mascot gonna be sitting with Ellie in the Baddies club
Okay now I'm thinking about mascot possibilities for the Sirens 🤔
Toronto Tempo design still takes top prize. As one harsh, yet dead-on accurate (and extremely clever) reviewer put it: “Very regional bus company circa 1980. Travel from Toronto to Buffalo in style. Includes smoking “section” and more than one teenage runaway.“ Yes. That was me. Still proud. 👊
Looks like a waterbed company to me.

New tea I learned: AT is a difficult teammate. Napheesa has “legitimate issues” with the Lynx and will probably leave. (Cheryl related?) Olivia would have entered the 2025 draft if she was guaranteed to go to LA. (Does that mean she stayed in school because she didn’t want to come to Seattle?)
Predictably, Trysta Krick cooked on today's pod open.spotify.com/episode/1BNW...
Current 2027 WNBA draft lottery odds (Based on team W-L records from 2025 and so far in 2026)
Wait. What? I was only just able to turn the Storm-Liberty on. You mean to tell me this was a 3 point game just 13 minutes ago? This game? The 69-87 game? WTF happened, Stormies?
Sixxxxxx sevennnnnn!! Storm done a great job this quarter to inch into NYL lead!
You know of Davis and Lasndell and Benites, but who else should you be watching in the WPBL? Some players to watch from the Queens and Heights for the rest of the season | @theixsports.bsky.social www.theixsports.com/features/mag...

My hot take (that’s way less “hot” than my last one) I still think “The Cauldron” would be a better nickname than “The Fire Pit” for the Portland Fire’s arena.
You make a good point. I just so don’t want this in the W and I, maybe naively, thought we could have shut it down by rolling our eyes at these idiots rathe than taking them seriously. But I see how that approach can feel the same as abandoning the very people I care about protecting.
Or, alternatively, she could just stop taking for a while.
I think Candace Parker needs some tea and honey. Her voice is almost gone.
My hot take: I'm more pissed off at the Storm owner for (allegedly) yelling and swearing at the two teens. I don't see how the Storm had any choice but to apologize for her behavior. Such a dumb move. Why give them or their "cause" more oxygen? So many better signs to draw attention to.
OMG, @robocoko.bsky.social! You love Freddy???? You must have a soft spot for Seattle’s bubble-bellied weirdo too.
On the upcoming @6thpod.bsky.social (releasing tomorrow), @robocoko.bsky.social refers to someone as a "bubble-bellied weirdo." Try to guess who it is! (no, it's not me)
Weak sauce. This team sucks. I can’t imagine Cheryl Reeve or Becky Hammon sitting silently through this answer from the some team PR flack. And I also loke to think most WNBA teams wouldn’t even try to pull this stunt and “protect” their assets by not letting them respond.
I think I might be having more fun watching the Seattle Storm this year than I did either of the last two years. Yes, the bottom ranked, 6 and 23 Seattle Storm. It’s a combination of low expectations, player development happening in real time and the joie de vivre of youth.
I really hope either a) No one shows up to the hate rally tomorrow or b) the Storm issue a pro-trans, anti-haters, in-arena statement when all the players from both teams are on the court or c) both.
Does anyone know if the Seattle Storm are going to do anything to stand up to the bigots who are planning their transphobic support Sophie rally tomorrow before the game? #wnba #storm
My fav lines: “What Cunningham has bravely chosen to be is a straight blonde woman with tenuous political commitments.” And, “she recently pointed at another WNBA player for an extended period of time. In the least funny corners of the world, the pointing was a big hit.” TM @maitreyiaa.bsky.social

Can’t decide between Fruit Stripe Gum and Matador.
Post a photo of what your Orange Carpet look would be.
"If the latest financial data is any indication, the W has already outgrown the media rights deal before it's even started." And don't let anyone convince you the built in three year "re-evaluation" clause is some kind of chance to demand a better deal. It's toothless. bsky.app/profile/sonj...
Why the WNBA’s new TV deal is the biggest bargain in sports broadcasting
Based on the WNBA's growth trajectory, the main rights package signed just two years ago already appears like a relative steal.
sports.yahoo.com
A year an a half ago, the NBA negotiated an 11 year media rights deal on behalf of the WNBA and the MNBA. The total was $77 billion - of which the NBA then decided the WNBA would receive just $2.2 billion or 1/35th of the total. Here’s one main reason that was a bad deal for the W.
Also? Let’s be clear, she works for NBA owners more than WNBA owners. After this year there are only 5 W teams not owned by NBA owners, who, BTW, are now acting excited about the product but spent years treating their “investment” as a tax write-off that was designed only to bring them good press.
The biggest mystery of All-Star weekend remains unsolved. Why this, Courtney?

Photos from Seattle's Jimothy celebration. Events included a Jimothy art contest and a reading of the Seattle City Council's proclamation declaring 2026 to be Jimothy Summer. Because that's how we roll here in the Emerald City.
