"A concentration camp, in its most basic definition, is a place where a targeted civilian population, not necessarily accused of a crime, is detained and at least some of their basic rights are suspended," writes @jwashing.bsky.social. "That’s precisely what’s happening in the United States today."

Disappointed but not surprised by the Carney government’s abandonment of their emission reduction targets. Saying they did so for global stability as thousands die of extreme heat is ridiculous. The climate apocalypse threatens to end society as we know it.

Canada will not hit carbon emission reduction targets set under the Trudeau government, Prime Minister Mark Carney said in a video posted to YouTube. He argued that downgrading the country’s climate-change ambitions is necessary for global stability and national unity.

The Republic of Soundland condemns the recent and inhumane SCOTUS ruling against transgender athletes, which not only dehumanizes transgender people, but will result in forced genital inspection of minors. This ruling is incompatible with international law and children’s rights.

@npr.org This minimizing of Internally Displaced Trans Persons, who are fleeing their home states out of the very real fear of prosecution or violence is deeply troubling. Their experiences can not be compared to those who move simply because of their personal politics.
