Into Strictly and all things glamorous. Incapable of napping

What I thought Girl Scout Cookies were: Homemade biccies, made to a specific recipe approved and handed down through the Girl Scout movement, either by Girl Scouts themselves or helpful relatives. What they are: Mass produced commercial biccies in several varieties. What's so special about that?

Another big day for my sister. A physio came to see her as agreed with the dr, listened v carefully to hee background and my sister goals and then, at my sister's request not only helped her stand but also to walk to the toilet. The fact that bedpans are in the past is a real buzz. Sat in chair 1/2

An up and down sort of day, but my sister's chest drain is out which is a HUGE relief to her physically and mentally and to us all emotionally. It's brightened her up a bit and she is less weak today than she has been. Still very weak, but improved

Not weddiing gifts, but 29 year old M&S bath towels which do adhere to some sort of colour scheme, plus various ones of diff sizes that I seem to have acquired with knowing how. I don't own beach towels and I don't go to the gym. If I DID go a bath towels wld be used. Travel towel for lake swimming

Here is a question for you Bluebs…. Towels. In your house, do you have A) lovely, matchy matchy soft, fluffy towels. B) a mismatch of wedding gifts 30 years ago, plus odds and sods from parents houses…. And some knackered beach towels, for the gym? Which are you?

This time last week I was wandering around a fog enshrouded, wet mountain bog in the wind and rain and it was still nowhere near as horrible or exhausting as advocating for a very ill person in hospital. I'm actually scared of going in today because all the stuff we sorted out yesterday will be lost

How do I turn off knitting posts on here? And get loads more crochet posts? I hardly see any of those. I don't even mind knitting posts which show a nice hat or scarf or plain jumper, but they are all incredible tricksy intarsia/colour work jobbies or insane lacework. Who DOES that?!

Car in for service/MOT so took train and bus to hospital in Carlisle. If the changeover at oxenholme didn't involve a long wait and I car parking there didnt cost £20 a day I'd use the train for my visits every day. So much less stressful than motorway driving (even with an empty M6 N of Kendal)

My sister was admitted into hospital last night with breathing difficulties. She has pneumonia and also her blood counts are low so she needs a transfusion, which is happening this morning. Won't be able to see her until 1. My niece stayed at the hospital last night. Neither of us have really slept

Panoramic view of today's Wainright outing (click on the photo to see it all and get added info in alt text). A very different outing from yesterday. I could see! It was dry! My last 2 fells for the challenge and a really enjoyable walk (as opposed to epic, never-ending adventure)

A panoramic view from the top of Eagle Crag, my penultimate Wainright. To the left is Sergeant Crag, my final Wainright, summited 25 minutes later. Visibility is good! Across the langstrath valley is the big barrow shaped lump which comprise Allen Crags, Glaramara and Bessyboot (all climbed by a colleague). To the right of them is beautiful, verdant valley of Borrowdale. Above Borrwdale, on the right, are lumpy, porridgey soggy fells of Ullscarf, High Saddle and Low Saddle and Great Crag (that's one of mine). A glorious view and a great reward

No pictures of the fells I did today because it was very wet and windy and visibility was almost zero. Summit photos show a cairn in a sea of white. It was a dreadful day of soggy wet bog slogging. I nearly cried at one point as I was lost in the bog. But as I descended out of the clag, I saw this:

An atmospheric view of the big lakeland mountains whilst descending Green Crag in Eskdale. The grey cloudsare clearing a little and there is a white light shining on one of the fells, making it seem snow-covered. This is the shoulder of Esk Pike. Behind it there are the shadows of more mountains emerging from the grey, rolling clouds. These are the Scafell range of mountains, which include Slight Side, Scafell, Scafell Pike, Broad Crag, Ill Crah and Great End. To the right, still mainly covered in cloud, but with some of the "snow" visible on the lower slopes, is Bowfell. A magical view which cheered me up on a miserable, wet, windy, boggy trudge (which lasted just shy of 100 years)

Everybody in that there south all talking about thunderstorms... We were PROMISED thunderstorms. A weather warning and everything. That's why I started my hike so early. Rain eventually arrived about 5. Just normal rain. No thunder, no excitement. (*stalks off in a huff with her arms folded*)

Left the house at 6.15am, drove to north lakes and started walking at 7.30am. An absolutely stunning ridge walk - probably my favourite day of Wainrighting for Breaks for Kids. 3 more fells, taking my tally to 24. 5 more to go! (More details in alt text, of course!)

Early morning light over the fells I did a couple of weeks ago and derwentwater, from the top of Grisedale Pike. I took the route to the summit take by the fell race called the Grisedale Grind. Does what it says on the tin - which is more my style and way more enjoyable than the interminable trudge I previously didFrom the final summit of the day, Whiteside Pike, looking back along the craggy, airy ridge to Hopegill Head, with Grisedale Pike seen poking it's head up in the middle background. The drop off from Hopegill Head is very steep, rocky and scrambly, but it all adds to the interest! The light is incredible - cool and silvery. But in the other direction it was bright blue and sunny. An really fabulous mountain morning.

It really is 2016 all over again. I've never even see the Rocky Horror film/musical but I know who Tim Curry is and how much of an icon he is. But like 2016, some hit me more than others. Still not over Victoria Wood and I very much doubt I'll get over Dolly. A lighthouse gone out

Probably myself in a wilderness, but not a fan of the team challenges on sewing bee. Bad enough when it was in twos and the winning team members shared the glory equally. But a team challenge that then judges team members individually smacks of the worst type of interview Hating them

Aware this is normal for a huge amount of people. But it very much isn't my normal. Work is a mixture of intense and demanding peopling and challenging physical graft. I nees my days off to recharge. To lounge on an (imaginary) chaise longue and read, crochet, and other restful peaceful, solo things

I want August to be over. I shall sleep the whole of September. Even my days off are hard work: tidy and vacuum room, make myself presentable for hair cut, get hair cut, get petrol, drive to pick up visitors, drive another hour, climb a Wainright, drive back, cook them dinner and entertain

After a full due to extreme tiredness, here's today Wainright for our team fundraising challenge (more than half the 214 Wainrights completed and halfway to our fundraising target. My godson and his fiancee joined me, and will be accompanying me for the next 2 jaunts 😍 Full details in alt text

Me on the top of Lingmoor Fell in beautiful sunshine, blue sky and fluffy white clouds (after a morning of miserable rain). Lingmoor is named for the ling, or heather, that grows on its flanks and along the ridge, and is at full bore at the moment. There are beautiful views of the Langdale Pikes, Bowfell and Crinkle Crags. I'm kneeling down behind the summit cairn, resting g my hand on my chin. I'm wearing a Heather coloured fleece, which is very apt
Beside me is my waterproof jacket which is a vivid blue, and is reflected in the sky. It was lovely up there!
