This past weekend, alongside the Tŝilhqot’in Nation and Trekor Metals, myself and Minister Brar came together on Tŝilhqot’in territory in ceremony.

The Province and Simpcw First Nation have signed a new decision-making agreement related to the proposed Yellowhead copper mine. It lays out a collaborative framework for aligning environmental assessments with an efficient, timely and consent-based approach.

I was in Kitimat as LNG Canada and five First Nations signed a major equity option agreement: the opportunity to take majority ownership of the potential Phase 2 LNG storage tank, up to $1B. This shows what’s possible when Nations are true partners in projects that grow B.C.’s and Canada’s economy.🇨🇦

It was an exciting day in Yinka Dene territory to celebrate the opening of the Ncha Koh Industrial Park in Vanderhoof!

I am happy to share that this year’s Declaration Act Annual Report is now available!

Twelve years ago, the Supreme Court of Canada affirmed Tŝilhqot’in ownership and control of more than 1,700 km² of ancestral lands, which was the first declaration of Aboriginal title in Canadian history.

Congratulations to the First Peoples' Cultural Council on the opening of their new home in W̱SÁNEĆ territory. It was great to be able to attend the open house today, see some of the amazing art on display, and talk about the important work that they do.

Today marks National Indigenous Peoples Day! This day honours the rich history and culture of Indigenous peoples across B.C., and Canada. It is a day to lift up and acknowledge the rich contributions made by Indigenous peoples, that help to build a better province.

Congratulations to the Gwa’sala-‘Nakwaxda’xw Nations’ leadership committee and community members on the official opening of the Gukwdzi (Big House) in T’sulquate, near Port Hardy, this week.

B.C., Canada, and the five First Nations of the Te’mexw Treaty Association (TTA) are in the final stages of 30+ years of treaty negotiations! The five First Nations are Beecher Bay (SC’IȺNEW̱), Malahat, Snaw-naw-as, Songhees and T'Souke.

I am so grateful to have spent some meaningful time connecting with treaty partners in the Alliance of BC Modern Treaty Nations, alongside Premier David Eby, several of my fellow ministers and senior officials this week at the 2026 Premier’s Forum.

June is National Indigenous History Month - a time to honour the cultures and leadership of First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples.  This month we reflect on the ongoing work of reconciliation and recognize the strength and resilience of Indigenous peoples.

BC’s Central Coast is an extraordinary place - home to whales, salmon and seabirds, and deeply connected to coastal First Nations for millennia. A new National Marine Conservation Area Reserve will protect these waters while supporting economic prosperity.

Today, Sacred Fires will be lit across BC to honour and remember the children that never came home from residential schools and Indian hospitals.

Exciting day at the Legislature! The K’ómoks Treaty Act has passed Second Reading and is one step closer to ratification.

Happy Nisga'a Day! Today marks 26 years since the Nisga'a Treaty came into effect.

On Red Dress Day, also known as the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, we honour and remember the Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ peoples whose lives have been lost or impacted by gendered and racialized violence.

Congratulations to Angela Wesley for stepping into the role of BC Treaty Commissioner. Angela joins us at an exciting moment with both the K’ómoks and Kitselas treaties in front of the legislature and we look forward to having her expertise on the BC Treaty Commission.

Two Treaty introductions in two days! I’m proud to stand alongside my colleagues and local governments and many others in support of the Kitselas First Nation Treaty with B.C. and Canada.

So exciting! I just introduced the first new Treaty to B.C. in over 10 years—the K’ómoks Treaty Act. After more than three decades of work between the K’ómoks First Nation, Canada and B.C., the K'ómoks Treaty if fully ratified brings stability, certainty and prosperity for all in the region.

Making treaties with B.C. First Nations leads to greater prosperity, certainty, and togetherness for all of us in B.C.  Congratulations to George Abbott for stepping into the role of chief commissioner.

There’s a lot of misinformation being shared on social media regarding our work with Indigenous Peoples. That misinformation has even made its way into the Legislature.

Had a great conversation with my colleagues, @annekangburnaby.bsky.social and @lanapopham.bsky.social, at the BC Tourism Industry Conference this week. As a government we’ve set a goal to double tourism revenues to BC over the next ten years.

It's always inspiring to meet with young leaders!   I had the great honour meeting with the BC Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centres' Provincial Indigenous Youth Council. PIYC is made up of Indigenous youth from around the province that are actively involved in their local Friendship Centre.

MLA for Cowichan Valley, Debra Toporowski (Qwulti’stunaat) rose in the House today to speak against residential school denialism. Thank you for sharing your and your family's truth, and for your powerful words.

The Nisg̱a’a Treaty, the first modern treaty in BC, marked a turning point in our history, a renewed relationship focused on reconciliation and supporting an even better life for Nisg̱a’a people. It shows us what’s possible through perseverance, partnership, and respect.
