When we've hit the stage where "pre-crime" is being treated as a legitimate concern of the government, we have officially arrived in The Shit Has Hit The Fan territory. If you've been thinking of what's going on as a burgeoning threat or slide toward danger, you need to update your threat model.

“Pre-crime” means you have not committed any crimes but might. In my college law classes, it was always stressed that law enforcement is primarily a reactionary system in a free society. To be proactive in law enforcement means civil rights do not exist. That is what this is.

Did the political patrons of a US senator cut her a sweetheart deal on her house? No idea. But in a functional media ecosystem, the transaction would've been noted and the question explored in the press. Maybe it was explored here. But we find no evidence of it. #mepolitics 10/10
