Over the last several days, a large dynamic Kona Low drenched Hawai'i in heavy rainfall and severe weather, triggering flash flooding across the state. Each island received at least 12 inches (30 cm) of precipitation from this event.
Canada's government-run Weatheradio network certainly had its pros and cons. But it was usually there for anyone with an inexpensive Weatheradio or marine radio to hear it, even away from cell service. Our weather alerting system will now rely mainly on private companies to get alerts to Canadians.

Fallstreak hole spotted in Winnipeg, Manitoba this morning. Forms in cirrocumulus/altocumulus clouds. They are triggered by the disruption of an airplane cutting through the cloud deck. The supercooled water droplets in the cloud suddenly freeze & fall, creating the effect
