My house is the cleanest when I am about to travel. Fresh sheets, no laundry, no trash, cleaned fridge, everywhere vacuumed, no mess left around. I leave it in a pristine condition to find it like that upon return. Do I value my future self more than my current self?

At the general meeting of EASP, we are discussing whether voting rights should be extended to PhD students and there are people arguing against… Insane. They are fee paying members and they don’t have voting rights - that’s what we should be worried about, not anything else.

my alma mater was shut down by the government last night. it feels so weird.

It should have been three tiers: divide the second class into naturalized whites and naturalized people of colour, and make the latter even more precarious like deport them if they voice an opinion or something. Without any due diligence.

The Swedish 🇸🇪 Parliament just approved a law that would create a tiered citizenship scheme, with a 1st class (mostly for the native born) that cannot be revoked and a 2nd class (mostly for the naturalized) that can: www.svt.se/nyheter/inri... Only two parties (Left and Green) voted against.

Wrong. Absolutely wrong move. With increasing number of applications, what we need is a basic scientific quality and feasibility check, then lottery. Writing full proposal, interview etc all are absolute rubbish. The outcome is only slightly better than chance. It’s waste of everyone’s time.

We tested an idea: how does participation consistency affect ally perceptions? Well, allies are perceived positively across the board, but this becomes less positive if their participation in movement are inconsistent or gradually decline. A great work with great colleagues.

Advantaged group protestors can play an important role in social change, but what happens when their numbers dwindle or their participation is sporadic? We find that inconsistent participation raises doubts about protestors’ motives and trustworthiness. journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/...

I decided to remove my final lecture "How to improve intergroup relations" - I talk about recategorisation, contact theory etc. To be honest, at the peak of this global invasion, I no longer believe any of these theories to make a difference. We need sane leaders to start with for anything to work.
