Yes - SquidgeWorld is DOWN right now for planned maintenance. Our replacement machine did not function for some reason, so we're on a second replacement machine. Testing memory to make sure the system is fine. Once complete, we'll start the 1-2 hour process of bringing SquidgeWorld back up.
Just a reminder that @squidge.org has a planned maintenance soon
Big banner in the SqWA, but I'll say it here, too. 1) icons do NOT work. This is intentional. 2) do NOT post another user's works without permission. 3) we are down every Sunday 7am-9am Pacific. Tomorrow has a hardware update, too, so we'll be down 7am-11am (estimated) Pacific.
Can't respond so doing so this way - We've (the several of us that have OTW based archives) been in touch with an OTW engineer. But you can always message me.
(I'm certain OTW will reach out to anybody running other installs once their hair is no longer on fire, but even if I'm wrong this is the cause, it's a thing that should be fixed sooner rather than later)
Here's an update about SquidgeWorld and coming changes to Image Hosting. Link: blog.squidge.org/archives/483
Everybody breathe. This is bad. But I know the AO3 engineering volunteers are doing what they can. Because yes, even WE read on AO3 a lot of the time.
[update] Identified: We estimate that service restoration for #AO3 will take around 2 weeks but it could be up to 4 weeks. We are hopeful that we will be able to bring the site back up in a degraded state sooner. If that does happen, there may be times when the site has ...
AO3 will be back soon - we wish you well! In the meantime, don't forget that if you're looking for fanfic to read, you have options! SquidgeWorld.org (multi-fandom) AdAstraFanfic.com (Star Trek) superlove.sayitditto.net (Femslash) cfaarchive.org (Comics) fanfiction.lol (multi-fandom) Go read!
#AO3 maintenance is in progress. We expect it to take at least 12 hours, but it may take longer. We will provide updates as necessary. Refer to our status page for updates: www.otwstatus.org/incidents/g1...

I love that the NHL has a D. Nurse player, but sad that there's no W. Poindexter. And if you get this, thanks go to Ngozi U. for bringing #OMGCheckPlease to fruition.
After our self-imposed 24 hour downtime due to PHP vulnerabilities, we have patched our PHP versions, and are back! All sites should be up and functioning. If you see something, please log a ticket. Thanks!
FYI, due to PHP vulnerabilities, all webhosting services on Squidge.org (including Squidge Images, custom domains, etc) are DOWN. They will be back ASAP once patches are released.
The Whole Squidge Images Debacle - A Post Morteml. With apologies to the users I caused undo problems. You can read it on the Squidge Blog here: blog.squidge.org/archives/471

After my apology and explanation is posted, I will be deleting previous consent screen skeets, etc. so that everyone is on the same page.
The move back into our little datacenter is complete, and things seem to be stable. As always, log a ticket if you see oddities.
Short Squidge.org downtime Sunday AM for most Squidge services. Details here: blog.squidge.org/archives/459
@perclexed.bsky.social Hey - I think IRC is up? Can you let me know, please? :)

Sympa/Mailing Lists Up and Running
On top of all other items that are once again running, all Sympa/Mailing lists are now populated and running. You can send messages and have them go out just like before. That said, our mail backup service (which holds email until it can be delivered to Squidge) is most likely caught up. So if you sent a message to the mailing list server and didn't see it come through, you'll probably want to resend it.

Squidge Upgrade: Status
The Squidge.org upgrade is mostly complete. For most people, you have access to what you need, from Squidge Image, the Jinjurly Archive, and other web services. Here's a list of what I'm still working on, and why: Mailing lists: There are two parts to this that need attention and they are Mailing lists themselves: Email is being accepted by the system, but it is not being distributed to mailing list participants.

Huzzah - one more package fixed the sendmail problem, so that's done. Sympa (Mailing Lists) remain down, including the web interface. If I'm not mistaken, that might be the last thing (other than old sites needing PHP < v8) needed. Let us know if you find breakage.
ALL Webservices on Squidge.org (homepages, archives, etc) have been made available. But please note that some older sites that are dependent on lower versions of PHP may not be working. Sympa (and the list interface) remains down for the time being.

For those that use Squidge for email: 1) You can download/accept email from Squidge.org 2) For some reason sending of email is bombing. I'm working on it. 3) Sympa mailing lists software is NOT up yet. That's next
Support is up, but I'm not 100% sure it will be sending emails so we're checking. support.squidge.org

And now Jinjurly Audiofic Archive is up.
Squidge Images is back up. BUT, it's the first service back up post upgrade so please let me know here or on Discord if you see issues.
All RAID structures are complete; just have to wait while it's internal journal finishes behind the scenes. The machine is online but disconnected from everything as I finish the configuration of ::waves hands:: EVERYTHING. Hopeful ETA is 12Noon Pacific Time. Cross your fingers!
Update: Images are complete. But the Jinjurly archive is massive, so it's going to take some time to move 2.7Tb of data from one hdd to another (yes, hard drives not SSDs as we're not made of money!). Hopefully it finishes tonight and we'll be able to finish setup tomorrow. ::crosses fingers::
Squidge.org Move Progress: New machine up and running, but it would not recognize the disks for image hosting. This means we have to transfer the data from one machine to another, reformat/recreate the RAID, and then move it back. Will definitely be at least 24 hours more.

Squidge.org Extra Downtime + Reminder
In anticipation of tomorrow's big downtime, I need to swap out a drive case so that we're better situated for tomorrow's upgrade. To do so, I'll be taking down Squidge.org for a 15-30 minutes downtime today at 3pm Pacific Time. Doing this will make the preparation and build out of the new machine go faster ::knock wood::. It will affect all services hosted on Squidge.org including Jinjurly, Image Hosting, email and mailing lists, and others. As always, let me know if you have questions.
squidge.org
Oh yeah - Totally escaped me that Squidge.org is officially 32 years old this month! While our origins began in 1992, it wasn't official until we registered the domain in September, 1994. Here's to many more years in fandom!
