So with how suspect Charlwood has been and the UK Met are clearly disregarding its past 2 day readings, does that mean it should be disregarded for other times this summer it set the 30C mark. 30th July was another one but they mentioned it for that one.

Cork Airport had its driest, warmest and sunniest of ANY month on record in July 2026. 1.1mm of rain, prev record 4.5mm in May 1991 18.5/18.6C tmean, prev record 18.3C in August 1995 315.1 hrs of sun, prev record 290.4 hrs in May 2025 315.1 hrs is also an Irish national record.

This is pretty crazy. The final KZ sun total for Bournemouth/Hurn was 381.1 hrs in July 2026. That's without any correction applied for CS equivalent. Reminder the national UK monthly sun record was with CS at Eastbourne in July 1911 with 383.9 hrs.

There was another day yesterday with 30C in the UK which makes the total for the month 17 so the second most out of any month on record in the UK with only July 2006 at 18 higher.

July 2026 has had 16 days where the UK has achieved 30C, equal to July 2018 and August 1995. Only July 2006 with 18 days has had more in a single calendar month on record as far as I'm aware.

Cork Airport is guaranteed to beat Valentia's standing record of 308.2 hrs of sunshine in July 1955 today with 306.2 hrs as of yesterday July 30th for July 2026.

A month with 250 hrs of sunshine is quite a rare feat here in Dublin. Only May 2020, May 2025, June 2018 and now July 2026 have achieved that in my lifetime (since 2000). Before June 2018, the last time was May 2000. This is the first time since 1975/1976 that it has happened two years in a row.

Hurn/Bournemouth KZ sun total for July 2026 now on 360.9 hrs as of the 29th. Applying correction gives an estimate around 397 hrs to CS equivalent comfortably beating the all-time UK record monthly sun of 383.9 hrs at Eastbourne from July 1911.

Remember when we thought July 2022 was very dry with 22.6mm in England & Wales. Yeah that was the driest since 1911, more than a century. Well get this... July 2026 is sitting at 𝟓.𝟔𝐦𝐦 to the 27th... The driest July on record was 1825 with 8.2mm.

Temperatures reached 35.2°C today, marking the 7th day of 2026 where the UK has recorded 35°C or higher 👇 Prior to this year, the record was 5 days of ≥35°C, set in 1976 and 2020 🌡️

The gap is closing. 1995 now only has 3 more 30C days than 2026 in the UK. Technically, there is still August, September and even October if records break for more potential 30C days.

Somehow Dublin Airport managed to snag 20.0C within the hour during the afternoon today. This continues its record-breaking streak of 24 consecutive days of 20C or greater. The previous record I'm aware of was 21 days back in July 1989. This is some run for here.

5 years ago, I was writing a provisional report on the exceptional nature of the July 2021 heatwave in Ireland. Little did I know that was only the beginning with every year except 2024 since featuring some kind of exceptional warmth or warm spell/heatwave.

2026 has now had more 30C days in the UK than 2018. Only 1995 remains with more 30C days in a single year.

The UK has just recorded its first three week long heatwave on record, based on recent Met Office observations - 21 days at Exeter Airport and Usk beats the record of 17 days at Cambridge in 1976 by 4 days. It has been a notable summer so far, with records continuing to tumble.

Hurn K/Z sun total has officially reached 300 hrs for July 2026 as of yesterday 24th July or roughly 333 hrs in CS equivalent. National average estimated at 215.3 hrs is currently the 12th sunniest July since 1910.

Corkians, this must be your best summer month ever? Cork Airport looks to have had a flawless month to date with only the first day nearly completely dull and the only day to fail to reach 20C. No rain at all so far and 256.4 hrs of sun to 22nd.

A fantastic day to be venturing the Cliffs of Moher for my first time.

I finally managed to see puffins for the first time and captured one of them, at Lambay Island with Dublin Bay Sea Safaris. I’m instantly hooked like everybody else into them now. Look forward to getting them next year. For now I’m glad to at last gotten to see them. Very cute and picturesque.
