This was indeed unprecedented: 30-year Treasury yields have never been up this much on a Fed decision while two-year yields fell this much, based on data going back to August 1987.

Again his ideological preoccupation about the size of the balance sheet having undue influence on the price level. If the his task force dedicated to this ? comes back and tells him that his theory has no empirical evidence & little theoretical coherence will he drop it?

This nonsense about rising yields having anything to do with removing forward guidance & ‘the markets playing the referee rather than the ball’ is astoundingly stupid.

A few minutes ago, two ICE flights operated by Journey Aviation landed in Eswatini, likely another third-country removal of immigrants to a maximum security prison there. Nineteen people have already been sent there on previous ICE flights in the last nine months. Only two have been released.

1) There has been irreparable damage. There’s no going back to Jan ‘17. Or even Jan ‘25. 2) It is a rational coping mechanism. And yet my wife and I are making plans to leave. 3) This might be myopia as an American - but it really is to all of our detriment. 4) The world will mostly muddle through.

It technically can-but one shouldn’t hold out any hope the appeal will be successful. Successful appeals are only in cases where a ref clearly misapplies a rule e.g. the ref awards a ref for a handball incorrectly. The balogun red was a judgment call - fifa won’t overturn a ref’s judgment on appeal
