Scathing (and funny) letter from James Goodale, a 93 year old Yale grad and former general counsel of the New York Times, about why the university should NEVER settle with Trump. Spectacular quotes. yaledailynews.com/articles/nev...

Someone chalked this on Beinecke Plaza during the protest on 10/2, predicting this very situation. Yale students don't have opportunities to speak with McInnis - it's no wonder they used her photo op as a chance.

Wow. Yale President McInnis caught on a hot mic speaking disparagingly of a student who asked her about democratizing Yale. '“Anyway, she was one of those students who shows up pissed off,” McInnis told Lewis, referring to a student who approached her at the anniversary event.'

I participated in these protests. If the photo panned out, I might even be in it. And even as an idealistic young undergrad, I was never as ashamed of my college as I am now that Yale is considering bowing the knee to Trump.
During the 1980s anti-apartheid protests on Beinecke Plaza at Yale then university president Benno Schmidt was out there among the students. Today Yale President Maurie McInnis remains in hiding from protesting students, faculty and alums. Come out come out wherever you are! photo: @gregpak.net
