This ⬇️ I remember the APEX Saturday night requirement for fares to become even remote affordable (or student tickets). Nothing could be booked one way at normal prices. Midweek returns in Europe were priced at business class fares that made you faint. Say what you will but FR changed all of that.

Airlines will be stunned I am defending them, but: the cheapest economy fares are now astronomically cheaper (like, 50%) than in 1986. Pay 1986 equivalent prices today and you're in premium economy (the equivalent of 1986 first class) or business class (a product far beyond anything from 1986).

It's notable that when Belarus/Russia did this to Poland, other EU countries didn't respond by blaming Poland. They blamed Belarus/Russia. No mystery why Europe's governing conservatives are blaming the EU's only leftist prime minister.

By now, it seems that #Spain has been very able to manage the crisis, and no other member states were negatively affected in any way. The reactions from Italy & Co. have been truly shameful. This is how you destroy trust and solidarity in the EU.

If the concern is Spain’s capacity to manage an exceptional number of arrivals, there are other ways to respond, including supporting Spain, without restricting free movement across an internal Schengen border.

Oof... IndiGo says geopolitics, and particularly the higher fuel prices combined with longer routings, have effectively killed its India-Europe operations. It will terminate the wetlease arrangement with Norse effective 1 November. #avgeek

However, there is no doubt that the elevated fuel prices, airspace disruptions and longer flight routes resulting from the Middle East conflict have affected the commercial viability of the arrangement for both parties. We have therefore jointly concluded that alternative deployment of the aircraft will be more commercially beneficial to both parties,” says Eivind Roald, CEO of Norse Atlantic.

New from me: Until recently, the gap between comfortably-off and just-getting-started could plausibly be crossed in a decade or two of hard work. Growth in asset prices means that’s no longer true: even a lifetime of striving doesn’t offer a realistic prospect of feeling you’ve “made it”.
