Not a fan of using imagery from Ghibli's adaptation in the article, as the new series is reportedly based on the original books, not the film. This framing makes it look like another remake of an animated movie rather than a legitimate adaptation of the source material, just as valid as Ghibli's.

Researching the poor treatment animation has gotten at the Oscars over the years for Umbert, and it's making my blood BOIL to read the interviews of some of The Academy members when they shared their picks for best animated feature. Try reading this shit without wanting to kill someone challenge.
Fun fact: when we didn't know how the bonus episodes would look like, I drew this stupid thing in like 2 minutes, and everyone was like "hell yeah", so we went with it, not a bit of overthinking
