there is a strain of lefty discourse where you can’t come to any unflattering conclusions about the populace—those must be explained away by how they are being acted upon by capital—but I think you’ll understand things better if you understand capital can also exploit weaknesses it didn’t create

Fast fashion didn’t nearly kill American fashion retail because people thought Forever 21 and Gap were equivalent quality, or they couldn’t be sure how big the difference was. That happened because people wanted to buy more clothes for less money and wear them fewer times and then get more new stuff

For the record: NOPE. Honestly, I don’t think there’s an issue today I care about on a personal level more deeply than trans rights. And it’s rough out there right now. Bigots on one side of the political aisle and too many cowards on the other. ⬇️
