The Falcon 9 stage has now impacted the lunar surface. Astronomers followed its approach until last night; haven't yet seen any reports of anyone detecting the impact flash itself.

Ralph Lorenz—Huygens showed that Titan can be wet, even at low latitudes. As Dragonfly flies across Titan, the odds it’ll land in mud are low (<1%), and if so, the stickiness will be again to sticky wheat dough (and Dragonfly could still takeoff). #AOGS2026
My friend saw an official Star Trek TNG Enterprise 1701-D pool floatie at an antique mall. She posted a pic in discord. I NEED IT. She went back, and it was still there. Enterprise secured! It’s on the way from Indiana. When I sent her the money, I said “to explore strange new pools” lol
Laci paint this, Laci paint that. How do I actually choose which telescope & spacecraft images to paint? Well, a reference image has to tickle my brain in the right way! Here are 3 things that guide my decision
Don’t forget to join my email list for the print drop tomorrow!
You’ve probably seen this painting 5 times already, but now you can have your very own! Prints & the original will be available this week. First dibs for my email list on Wednesday 2pm PT (24 hours later for everyone else). We Love You From The Moon 🩶 oil on panel (Artemis II mission)
holy balls I am a wizard ✨ Okay finished the straw and lid! Time to wrap up the background next. I actually don’t intentionally try for photorealism. I like working with tons of colors & details. Sometimes it just kinda happens!

Our roommate left without saying goodbye. His name was Dale. He was a praying mantis living in the kitchen window for almost 2 weeks. I miss him 😭
I have thoughts about the science communication discourse today, but I’ll wait until tomorrow before I share. Today, I finished the bubbles on my Baja Blast painting. 80% complete. The cup is transparent & the purple is semi-transparent. Literally the first time I’ve ever painted a drink. NAILED IT
I have an appointment in October at the Mayo Clinic to discuss my possible endometriosis/adenomyosis. Fingers crossed my chronic pain is taken seriously so I can get back to feeling like myself again🤞
I REALLY enjoy Dippin’ Dots. The highlight of visiting amusement parks when I was younger was always (1) ice cream of the future, (2) roller coasters. Someday I will have a low-temp freezer for all the delicious frozen orbs I desire. Until then…
Baja Blast progress 🚀. Almost finished with all the drink bubbles. Up next will be the lid, metal straw, and then wrapping up the background “stickers”
In today's episode of "The Weird and Wonderful Rocks of Mars" we have this gloriously twisted rock seen by the Perseverance rover - a "ventifact", shaped and sculpted by the icy winds of Barsoom. Image Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech/ASU/S Atkinson
I looked through every single photo from the Artemis II mission—that’s over 12,000 photos (!)—and painted the one that spoke to me the most. The Moon and a tiny crescent Earth out a spacecraft window surrounded by imperfect reflections and glare felt very human to me.
It's not enough to be against AI, you need to be pro art. You need to be a champion of the art you love, you need to share that passion and joy, and do what you can to support the artists who make it, because it's not enough to hate AI, to hate what it's doing to art and media; you gotta love.
I don’t watch horror movies or scary things anymore. After many, many years of night terrors, it traumatized me. I am a big chicken now. That’s fine. But I finally built up the nerve to watch Widow’s Bay. It was so good!
On this day in 1928, Dr. Vera C. Rubin was born 🔭🧪 At 14, she built her first telescope out of a cardboard tube. Her work provided the first convincing evidence of dark matter, & scientists' quest to understand dark matter led to the idea that became NSF–DOE Rubin Observatory 🌌
I love my job. Connecting science and art and creating paintings fills me with joy each and every day. That is why I am so sad these health issues are interfering 😭. All I want to do is paint. I am feeling a little better today. My fever is finally gone.
Sorry for TMI on main, but I’ve decided to schedule an appointment with an endometriosis specialist. I am down to 4-6 good days a month and tired of feeling like shit 24/7. The gyn I went to in April was like 🤷🏻♀️ ultrasound is normal. Please don’t forget about me & my art if I need surgery lol
Having a post go semi viral always kinda sucks. Rude comments, weirdos, spam, people trying to steal my art. I always prefer the happy medium amount of views/likes. Enough to sell enough art to get by but things stay peaceful!
Roommate update: the praying mantis is still living in our window! My husband named him (her?) Dale. I think Dale is a native Arizona tan mantis. Tricky to photograph because he blends into the screen. He is *not* trapped. There is a gap & he leaves sometimes.
Part of why I’m painting a Baja Blast is to challenge my skills. Making astro-themed art that requires painting new materials or complex lighting. Tricky components for this include: carbonated liquid in a semi-transparent cup, refraction of a metal straw, and 2 “stickers” behind the cup. 🚀🍋🟩
Hey so all my art is handmade. From the references I create to applying paint on the canvas. My work is mostly traditional paintings, but I dabble in other mediums. Don’t come into my comments & accuse me of posting genAI slop. Simply scroll through my page. Jerks, weirdos, & bots get blocked 🫡
