The once illustrious Royal Navy looking in a sorry state. If every UK adult paid £10 pm that would plug the UK’s £28bn defence black hole. A tenner per month will get you more than a few tins of battleship grey paint! We need to plan to fight tomorrow’s wars, not last centuries.
Juno Beach 🇨🇦 in Normandy. Quite a contrast to the beaches at Gallipoli
No better place for a beer whilst in sunny Normandy 🌞 🍻
A big thank you to all our speakers, organisers, volunteers, Portsmouth Grammar School, and those who travelled and length and breadth of the country to attend. Check out www.gallipoli-association.org for details of our September 5th, 2026 Annual Gallipoli Conference and other events.
Talks covered subject’s from the fledgling Submarine service, the RNAS, to daring deeds, precious family heirlooms, and insights into Gallipoli vs modern military doctrine.
The GA’s Portsmouth Regional Conference today was a glorious success. Seven excellent speakers delivered a mix of traditional long, and shorter ‘Twenty Minuter’ talks to a good crowd of around 50 delegates.
Wot No Rain! A good dry day spent at Bisley Camp thanks to the local WFA branch shooting some wartime classics
I grew up watching Secret Army on TV when I was a younger lad, the inspiration for the latter ‘Allo ‘Allo! comedy series. Looking forward to reading this 600+ page book about this classic series.
Looking forward to this as I battlefield guided one of the families being featured, an amazing story that tracks a soldiers story from the Christmas Truce to the 1st July 1916. @sophie1wwtours.bsky.social www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/...
