Raymond Girdler was aboard the S.S. Avila Star when she was torpedoed and sunk on 6 July 1942. Some survivors were rescued within a few days, while others were not found until 25 July. One lifeboat carrying 23 people was never found. 📍Lisbon (St George) British Churchyard 🇵🇹

LCpl Henry Hudson 40 RTR was seriously injured on 23rd Jul 41 in a tank accident at Redhill. He died in hospital 85 years ago today on 28th July 1941 and is buried in Bradford.
