Great to see Bill given a blue plaque this week in Scarborough. It’s well documented what Bill means to me. The letter he wrote to my dad when I was 15 still hangs in my hall. A classy letter from a classy man. Tom from my podcast wrote about the plaque & the letter, I think it gets Bill right.

Bill Nicholson got a blue plaque in Scarborough this week. But the letter that tells you what he was actually like is framed on @steveperryman.bsky.social's wall - typed to a fifteen-year-old's dad, before agents existed.

That performance was purely based on an attitude to compete for every ball & put our mark on the game which helps to make the opponent negative. Exactly as teams do to us (especially at home). A strong mentality doesn’t guarantee victory but weakness probably leads to defeat.

Very sad news about Chiv and a complete shock to everyone. Top player and person and very much a big game player as proven by his goals. Most people think of the Wolves UEFA Final, for some reason I always remember his two goals in an away win against Leeds in intimidating circumstances.

Great to see & hear Sonny back at THFC at last game – his presence lifted everyone. Re his ask of “please don’t forget me”: from one who’s had a career and moved on… supporters, as Sir Bill said, the most important people at the Club, never forget a player who gave everything & showed such humility.

Many happy returns to Ardiles san. A great footballer, friend and one of the very sharpest football brains I’ve come across. Gave me his 84 UEFA Cup medal as I’d missed out through suspension! A class act on + off the pitch. Steve + family x

My absolute honour to attend today with our TH old boys, Bill's daughter + family and current staff for such a respectful event! "If you don’t honour the past, do you have a future worth having?" Steve P.
