Hi Minneapolis friends, nerd night is tonight! And it's every fourth tuesday, and there are openings for maybe August, but definitely September and definitely October. I highly recommend going to a nerd night if you are interested in presenting at a future one, it is so much fun and not scary!
Community felt so good today. It's 90+ degrees, a friend is moving less than a mile down the road, so let's hop on a bike with the trailer and meet up to pack the moving van and cargo bikes to make it happen! Two trips and lots of lifting later, move complete!

If you use AI for your advertisement flyers, I'm going to make assumptions about you. I'm going to assume you cut corners on everything. If you're a bakery, I'm going to assume you use poor quality ingredients. If you're a handyman, same thing, I'll assume you cut corners on your work.
Tonight I'm eating some salmon and berries before they go bad, and taking a bath. This is about as close as I'll ever get to feeling like a grizzly bear.

Legitimately everything outside looks like an old timey photograph, every time I go outside I feel like I'm a brisket being put in the smoker. It's nasty out here.

I had a shipment come in today, and it contained the following: -garden shears -branch loppers -charger for the electric leaf blower -charger for the electric weed eater -garden hose -dance pole And my landlord is reimbursing me for all of them except one!

We've lost two colleagues recently and it hurts beyond words. For almost all city and transportation planners, it's so much more than a job, it's our lifestyle, our everything. It's heartbreaking to lose one of our own, it's infuriating that the system failed us again and again.

Deaths like Louisa's occur because our leaders prioritize the convenience of drivers over the safety of pedestrians and cyclists.
How magical, that just an hour bike ride outside the cities, I can see sandhill cranes! There were three pairs on my ride, and these two were the closest to be able to photograph with just a phone zoom.

Here's my hot take of the day: Trinket trading boxes on the street are just geocaching for people who are afraid to lose a game. Like half of the fun of geocaching is that there is a risk of potential failure. Humans crave a tiny bit of risk, that's why sports betting is insane right now.
Watching videos of folks from all over the world come over for the World Cup experience little USA culture tidbits is warming my soul. Like getting a deli sandwich, visiting a southern Waffle House, the Bosnians meeting each other in St. Louis, Europeans on long road trips, it's so so sweet.
It's tough to find parking in uptown.

I will say, it's pretty magical to see a ton of friends at a community meeting on a Monday night. It tells me that I made the right choice moving here, I made the right choice standing up for what I believe in, and I made the right choice in my friends and loved ones.
I know the bus can be scary, Bruce, but we are happy to teach anyone! We'll help anyone who wants to try Metro Transit buses and trains.

"maybe once a year I get someone buying flowers from me and they take a bike" Yeah because you've threatened us. You've sprayed us with water. You've called us names. We still buy fresh flowers, we just go to the other shops within a mile or so. Gardenia. Fleurs de Lee. All bike friendly peeps!
Here's my thing. I have $$. I want to spend my $ that I've earned on my favorite places in my neighborhood. But it's tough when some places I want to visit have proven to be incredibly hostile to pedestrians and cyclists. I want to buy pizza, flowers, fancy running shoes, maybe even jewelry!
Is anyone counting the lies during this presentation? Maybe I'm a fool, but perhaps a planner or transportation planner should be the one explaining the slides of the streetscape designs? Perhaps an actual planner in the audience....
