First time drinking Thornbridge Kipling in years. Glad to report that this is still a stunning beer and I hope I start encountering it more in pubs again.

Crewkerne Gazette is AI slop. Pretty terrible choice for Kemi Badenoch to make a stand on.
Ah, that bloke in the news was behind those weird Crewkerne Gazette posts I kept seeing. Kinda weird of Badenoch to fight on that hill.
Certain political parties (looking at you especially here Greens and Reform) need to do much, much better in supporting their candidates, and also informing candidates as to the nature of what being a local councillor entails!
BREAKING: The Sheffield Green Party’s Andy Davies has resigned as councillor for Walkley. Davies won the ward from former Sheffield Labour leader Tom Hunt in May by just 73 votes. On Facebook earlier today, Davies said he was stepping down due to his “mental health and associated personal reasons”
Absolutely. And lest we forget, Gianni was supposed "reform" FIFA from within and clean up the corrupt mess left behind after the Blatter grift machine. What a joke this man is. But a perfect reflection of the times. The game deserves so much better. We'll see if it ever gets it.
I wholeheartedly agree that Gianni Infantino has been a disaster for world football and needs to step down ASAP. However, it's equally important that his successor be somebody outside of FIFA. The organisation needs a clean broom to sweep away the rubbish.

This is a thing. Too many people increasingly judge things based on whether or not they are left or right coded. Not only is this bad for politics, but it also does a huge disservice to everything being judged in this manner (usually wrongly) as being for folk of a certain political persuasion!
Still don't like DIY. Even if it is extremely necessary.
Some #Sheffield based art spotted in Hunter's Bar. Whilst I can appreciate impressionist art, I never got these impressions when in Kelham Island or on Eccleshall Road!

"There is no time to dance around the subject. Gianni Infantino must stand down as Fifa president or otherwise be legally removed. No fresh chances can be made available for an official who has demolished trust in football’s integrity and governance, trashing all remaining credibility..."
Dieu Du Ciel Symbiose 32. Sour wheat ale aged in brandy barrels, marcerated on Frontenac grape marc. As beers go, this is definitely on the pretentious side! 🤣
Not sure why this is a headline. A shortage of Old Speckled Hen hasn't been an emergency since Greedy Kerching took over Morland in 1999 and promptly ruined what had previously been a really good beer! www.telegraph.co.uk/business/202...

The decline of free market conservatism in the last decade has been remarkable. IMHO it stems from Conservatives becoming seduced by spiteful nationalism, leading them to regularly prioritise red tape over free trade.
Important corrective by @robertshrimsley.bsky.social: Britain’s free marketeers need to wake up to how bad things are and how no-one is really making our case at the moment:
I know I've referred to this year's tournament previously as the Dejphon Chansiri World Cup. But if anything I was being too kind! #infantinomustgo
UEFA is considering a boycott of FIFA tournaments, including the World Cup and the Club World Cup Because the non-profit FIFA wants to hand over influence to private investors There are 55 members in UEFA
In order to do that the Tories would have to drop their instinctive reaction of "fuck off and join the Lib Dems" any time anyone suggests anything vaguely moderate.
There is intense competition between Reform and Restore for the extreme right-wing vote. There is therefore a clear case for the Tories to lay claim to the vast centre-right territory with zero competition. This would be good for her and for British public life.
Arguing that “exceptionalism” is a uniquely British thing is exceptionalism in itself.
I would say that 99% of Smith's fans can differentiate between The Smith's music and Morrissey being a prize dingleberry!
Just seen that Burnham is an avid Morrissey fan and has put up a gold disc of The Smiths’ “The Queen is Dead” in No.10 North the guy who has a whole section on “racial comments” on Wikipedia Yeah this dude doesn’t care about racism in the slightest.
This is protectionism. It's quite trendy at present but it never ever works. We need a better approach to procurement in order to deliver best value for the British taxpayer.
Government departments have been ordered to "buy British", Chancellor John Healey has said in an overhaul of procurement rules.
Just think how many more seats Reform could have won if they hadn't been flagged by their bank for dodgy dealings!
“Records on the Commission's website show Reform's bank account was frozen in the weeks before the election…the account was first frozen a maximum of nine days after Britain Means Business's second donation” Tice will obvs know it was frozen for sus activity at the time www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Just when you think that the Telegraph has got the market for newspapers becoming a parody of themselves absolutely cornered, along comes the Grauniad with this! 🤣

Central government is central government, regardless of where a few meetings are held. This is just pure gimmickry from Andy Burnham.
Andy Burnham will hold his first meeting at the new No 10 North in Manchester, by chairing the National Economic Council, a cabinet committee first launched in 2008 to respond to economic challenges around the UK
#nowreading "And the Ass saw the Angel" by Nick Cave. If you like the music of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds you'll most likely really enjoy the imagery, atmosphere and references in this book. If you're not a fan of Nick Cave's music then I suspect this won't be nearly as enjoyable.
It's quite apparent that Starmer loyalists given the chop by Andy Burnham will need a cause to rally around. But which cause will it be?
Looking at Burnham's cabinet, basically loyalists to Starmer out, any of his mates from the North in. Keeping both Mahmood and Nandy in position is wrong. Miliband and Streeting getting those positions, as they didn't stand against him but got completely wrong jobs. Some catastrophic decisions.
Does your dog bite? No, he blesses. Original post
Even if Andy Burnham were to personally give handjobs to every British Citizen, people would still conclude that he is in fact the greatest monster in British history within weeks!

Whilst the USA has not been a good host, the blame for the World Cup being a substandard tournament lies primarily with FIFA. It's as though this World Cup has been organised by Dejphon Chansiri. Giannini Infantino is killing the goose that laid the golden egg.
FIFA is ruining the people’s game ⚽️
Does Nigel Farage ever take responsibility for anything he does?
This letter from Farage to all Clacton voters has very strong "I am the party, I am the nation" I/we conflation vibes.
