CAT 5 Super Typhoon #Bavi 'eye' encompassing Rota in the Mariana Islands. They likely got hammered with intense winds as the 'eyewall' moved overhead, and will get slammed again soon when the backside hits! Looks like shear has eroded the northeast quadrant of the cyclone.

Juston Drake and I documented an impressive supercell mesocyclone structure with multivortex tornado over farmland outside Chester, Nebraska earlier this evening, July 3, 2026 (view looking south-southeast from the inflow notch). #newx

Half through 2026: Naturally, my personal bar for storms and tornadoes has risen over 26+ years of chasing. Despite seeing at least 40 twisters, IMO 2026 has been relatively mediocre or "mid". That said, it hasn't been a bad year. Juston Drake and I have seen some cool stuff.

Juston Drake and I followed a supercell from Wildarado to Canyon, Texas today, June 23, 2026. We saw some monster hail come down, and the frequent lightning was incredible at times, and nice updraft structure. #txwx

OTD last year, June 22, 2025, Juston Drake and I captured a nice supercell and cone to bowl-shaped multivortex tornado over the Big Woods of Minnesota near the community of Grygla. We dodged falling trees and navigated sketchy forest roads to get these views. #mnwx

Couple very close lightning strikes, near supercell structure early, big fog=dirt gust front later, and ridiculous 'dust bowl' near zero visibility inflow near Rexford, Kansas. Juston Drake and I chased today, June 20, 2026. #kswx

OTD last year, June 20, 2025, Juston Drake and I documented multiple powerful supercells and tornadoes between the towns of Spiritwood and Enderlin, Nirth Dakota, including the 1st official NWS-rated EF5 Twister since May 20, 2013. Then got hit by a ridiculous MCV. #NDwx

OTD 22 years ago, June 12, 2004, Jim Bishop, Kyle Mozley, Mark McGowan, and I documented 3 twisters from a cyclic supercell near Rock, Kansas. This storm became well known for a photogenic tornado near Mulvane, which we were late. #kswx
