Took note of this particularly stupid post the other day, and I wasn’t going to bother dunking but I think today shows that there are some very good reasons to want a healthy opposition whose leader doesn’t support the candidacy of barely reformed neo-nazis.

Something I find particularly disgusting about Rowling is how she has self-appointed as the defender of lesbians and gay men, while nastily dismissing the latter as "men with beards" and quietly pretending not to see the former when we dare to disagree with her.

I have dealt with many people who are "nice in person" or don't really believe half the bigoted shit they come out with and... Do you not think it is actually just as disgusting?

Again, a fundamental issue with trying to cover the anti-trans movement is that explaining that they are habitually insincere and so routinely chose transphobia over women's rights does make you sound conspiratiorial, and yet...

I probably wouldn't be eulogising over someone who made nasty jokes about me speaking out about being an abuse survivor but then I am not a transphobe or an idiot.

I do wonder also to what extent "you're not even allowed to ask these questions" is actually "these questions are being asked and I don't like what the answers are"
Tom Phillips@tom-phillips.com · 4d agoIt is quite strange how little the actual public inquiry we're having into the UK's Covid response - the one that's publishing in-depth reports every few months - factors into the "you're not even allowed to ask these questions" complaints. We are, in fact, officially asking these questions!
I wonder how my uncle who got hospitalised with Covid and became a full on antivaxxer and then secretly had another child without telling anyone is doing
