As if Long Covid and ME/CFS aren’t heartbreaking already, to have relief ripped away. “Corporate realities do not align with needs of very sick people. We asked if patients could stay on the drug via a compassionate-use protocol. The gains didn’t stick around after he stopped the drug.”

I’ve never heard of the glymphatic system but I’m sure Long Covid messed with mine too. “impaired glymphatic clearance in people with ME/CFS - the brain cannot efficiently flush out waste products in these individuals.” Hence the gummed up circuitry causing my brain to short out.

I hope people make the connection between the cyclosporiasis outbreak and our government’s approach to Covid (then and now.) If you adopt survival of the fittest as your public health ideal, prepare to face a lot of tests designed to hurt you. Sooner or later, you will no longer be the fittest.
We should have learned that you can’t manage a public health crisis by ignoring it. Politicizing science and weakening disease surveillance doesn’t make threats disappear, it only makes us less prepared to respond.
Flight delay calls for drastic measures. Any true Diet Coke drinker knows that I mean.
Exactly. People think of long Covid as a binary state - you either have it or you don't. But another way LC exists is by turning up the volume dial to various extents on pre-existing conditions
Long Covid is a thief. Running, teaching, live music, traveling. The list goes on… “Running is a form of mood regulation. It doesn’t matter how far or how fast you run. It’s part of how you’ve come to understand yourself.” “Losing running is a kind of grief and you are allowed to mourn it.”

Even Fortune magazine couldn’t ignore numbers like these. For MANY of us, the median cost would probably be a better measure. I would love to see it published. I know my number is close to $50,000/year.

It’s a microcosm of the larger disability system. Those of us with invisible or dynamic disabilities know the “side eye” and the repercussions of the few that do legitimately scam the system. I wish people were honest. What’s not mentioned is the number of children impacted by Long Covid.
