I’ve never heard of the glymphatic system but I’m sure Long Covid messed with mine too. “impaired glymphatic clearance in people with ME/CFS - the brain cannot efficiently flush out waste products in these individuals.” Hence the gummed up circuitry causing my brain to short out.

My friend had to remind a ticket agent at the airport of the ADA when the stressed agent scoffed at me needing a wheelchair. My cane wasn’t enough of an indication. I usually travel wearing my “Dynamically Disabled by Long Covid” tshirt.

36 years after the Americans with Disability Act was signed into law, our fight isn’t over. However long it takes, we’ll keep pushing until all 70 million Americans with disabilities have the dignity, independence and freedom they deserve.

“WHAT NEEDS TO CHANGE: Recognising Long Covid as a fluctuating disability Improving workplace flexibility Reforming benefits systems Supporting people to remain partially in work is more economically sustainable than forcing them out entirely.”

I hope people make the connection between the cyclosporiasis outbreak and our government’s approach to Covid (then and now.) If you adopt survival of the fittest as your public health ideal, prepare to face a lot of tests designed to hurt you. Sooner or later, you will no longer be the fittest.

We should have learned that you can’t manage a public health crisis by ignoring it. Politicizing science and weakening disease surveillance doesn’t make threats disappear, it only makes us less prepared to respond.

Exactly. People think of long Covid as a binary state - you either have it or you don't. But another way LC exists is by turning up the volume dial to various extents on pre-existing conditions

Quote from Dietrich Klinghardt poster by Better Health Guy account on Facebook

"Covid has worked as an accelerator for pretty much every medical condition. Any weakness you had before 2020 will now be 10 times more in 2026"

From Griffin University “We found a significant TRPM3-calcium pathway dysfunction in ME/CFS, resulting in impaired calcium entry into mitochondria” Science is catching up to what my acupuncturist suspected years ago. I wrote about in my Long Covid memoir….In The Space Between (link in bio)

Jonathan Toews tried with all he had to comeback after Long Covid. So did I. He made it through one season. I’ve made it to ten hours/week. He earned 29 points, down from the high 50’s-low 60’s I am a math interventionist instead of an AP Calculus teacher Link to the book of my story in bio.

Hope looks like 🌈🌈 “At a certain point, I stopped waiting for that one medication to magically make all my symptoms disappear. Instead, I began to believe that I could have a good life even with this illness.” Long Covid has plagued many overachievers like myself and it’s a hard adjustment.

The disease emphasizes the racism and ableism of the public health sector in Germany. People with disabilities and chronic illnesses must be prioritized over profits.

All my Long Covid sufferers who’ve been gifted Celiac’s disease as a bonus know what this bear knows! (The TikTok video then pans to a pile of demolished trash)

A screenshot from TikTok user lakenmay5 of a bag to gluten free bread untouched in the grass with the words “when even the bear who attacked my garbage won’t eat the gluten free bread.”

It’s a microcosm of the larger disability system. Those of us with invisible or dynamic disabilities know the “side eye” and the repercussions of the few that do legitimately scam the system. I wish people were honest. What’s not mentioned is the number of children impacted by Long Covid.
