Know who I don't want to share a bathroom with? Some fucking transphobe freak who's obsessing over the private parts of whoever else is having a piss in there.

A post about netflix being down and someone replies "who the fuck is watching netflix at 3.30pm" but I'm not currently an employee of a US company so explaining the existence of timezones is not currently within my purview
I remember this stat from when either me or my partner were still working in bookshops, it's also part of why the waterstones loyalty card is amazing value if you actually read a lot of books lol
Back in my Waterstones head office days, there was some statistic or survey that defined a 'heavy reader' as someone who read six books a year. Which I think acts as a helpful reminder that people who read more than that are in the minority, as are people who frequent bookshops on a regular basis.

Enthusiasm for this guy's leadership is a plain admission that you're only concerned with what's in the interests of white working class british people, I've already had this conversation with several folk and he's just getting started www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I personally don't say "terf" because it isn't fucking feminism, tend to stick with transphobe or "transphobic boot" to be more specific 👍🏻
Regarding the covid restriction patter I will share the memory of the folk in the oncology ward alongside me who had what would have in many cases been their last months curtailed by not being able to go anywhere because mask mandates had been dropped prematurely
This isn't about code btw, the way llms work makes whichever level of abstraction is in the training data a valuable point of leverage for understanding and manipulation.. That affects the range of opportunity people can access bcs it provides insight / influence over systems organisations depend on
My goal has always been to get more folk access to that leverage, which is why I'm steering people back to code and trying to use this technology to create better learning experiences there
I remain convinced that LLMs ultimately make coding skills more valuable, not less. Long term adoption of this stuff on software work is *dependent* on coding skills.
i think llms would also be ~worthless to me if i couldn't already code, every value i get from them is predicated not only on being able to parse code mentally, but, like, on being kinda good at it. knowing how dogshit this particular dogshit is or is not, at a glance
Opened masto to dozens of inexplicable notifications on a two year old post including yelling replies, social media is great
A parallel demo of this principle that I've been speaking about recently and folk seem to relate - often in 1:1 meetings I'll take notes for my own use, but I rarely read them back, the act of taking the notes is itself part of me building my understanding of the situation
So a masculinist understanding of notetaking would think a transcription app is the same as taking notes. That’s why they think an AI transcript is a time-saver. They think the notes are the thinking because when a human takes the notes, it is.

Hiya are you weird as fuck, wait till middle age, when the normies' kids have all grown up the tables turn big time
A curious pattern is emerging when I share info about the project I'm building and men reply giving me advice on how to build it lol. Then get upset when I say it's already mostly built. Even in cases where I've shared videos of it running, lol.
I still maintain that garden centre cafes represent the peak of organisational excellence, any business leader looking to build a high performing culture should immerse themselves in these operations
I get the copilot hate but fwiw one of the reasons I'm targeting vscode with my code comprehension tool is that it'll let users choose their own model and gives me a path that doesn't involve building for a specific model provider
