So someone answering a question from their phone read like three words and I said "that's ai" and they said "no it's not". "Sounds like ai" .... "Ok yeah it was."

Another day, another ridiculous AI project using my work. One thing you can say about these AI apps, they're consistent in their complete lack of worth, imagination, or contribution to anything meaningful.

I've been waiting for a proper critical response to Albo’s AI proposal. His ideas seem plausible so long as you ignore the entire history of the Australia government’s relationship with the fossil fuel industry.

So.......how the hell did the New York Times get Australia's AI data centre story so wildly wrong? Albanese's new AI rules **WORSEN** their position by allowing more room for gas Check out my new piece at @thepointau.bsky.social for all the lovely, gory details thepoint.com.au/opinions/260...

Last week I gave a “Dark Week” talk on space. As far as I’m aware, this is the first attempt at developing a coherent moral philosophy of space from an early Buddhist perspective. Summary of my argument in thread … Raw link here, visit lokanta.live for updates.

Ugg writing is hard. I'm lucky to have some excellent reviewers on an article I'm writing. Shows how much slips under the radar when you're just reading yourself.

Last night I gave a talk on a Buddhist philosophy of space, talking about multiple worlds, the speed of light, and how space drives you mad. We came out into Parramatta Square, and there was some event on. They were playing, I kid you not, “Eclipse” from Dark Side of the Moon.

After WW II, the Americans scooped up von Braun and other Nazi rocket scientists to beat the Russians. They beat the Russians just like they beat the Nazis. But now their government is overrun with Nazis and Russian assets. When you use Nazi tools, what do you become? (this post is about AI)

Not the point and not going to sway anyone, but as someone who has a degree in (among other things) biological anthropology, I just want to point out that the argument that there is only a gender binary is complete and utter bunk, the sort of thing that gets demolished in a 101 course on this stuff.

It's really hard to convey just how massive the scale of legislation has been to target trans people. From a few dozen pieces of legislation in 2015 to over a thousand in 2025. It started with sports bans in 2020 and now we're here. it was never about sports.

A bar chart titled "Figure 1: Anti-LGBTQ bills introduced per year, 2015–2026." The chart displays two sets of bars for each year: "Bills Introduced" (dark red/gray) and "Bills Enacted" (yellow). The data shows a significant upward trend in introduced bills starting in 2020, peaking in 2025 at over 1,000 bills, with the 2026 data representing a partial count as of March 2026. The source is noted as LegiAlerts.org Big Compilation Anti-LGBTQ Legislation Sheet.

Off to PHIVE in Parramatta Square soon. There's a weekly session on Tuesday, 6pm for a 6.30 start, finish before 8. Meditation, a little chanting, some Dhamma talk. Come along if you're in the area, or let someone know!
