I haven’t made it to the post office with my Romancing the Vote book mail yet, and I’m trying not to feel guilty about it. The envelopes are all stacked up. I don’t drive, so I have to plot when, where, and how to take them. And that is a lot for my ADHD brain.

I’m finishing my visit to the dinosaur theme park and the raptor just opened the kitchen door. 😳 There are sequences in this movie that never stop being scary. Special effects have come a long way since, but Jurassic Park holds up because this all feels very real. They *did that*.

PSA: Jurassic Park is now streaming on Hulu. I’m imagining the streamers jockeying over renewing the licensing like publishers when a white person’s book goes to auction.

Saw someone on Threads wonder why white women dominate dark romance and I almost answered before the self-preservation kicked in. Bringing up the true-crime-obsessed, “trafficked from parking lots” aspects of it all in a place where nuance goes to die? That way lies peril.

I love books that carve a hole in my chest with a melon-baller. That emotional gut-punch that comes when a character is experiencing something difficult and you’re that invested. It could be one line and it steals your breath because it hurts. It’s cathartic in a way.

An MCU thing I love is how they pair the “kids” with grumpy/stoic characters. Spider-Man + everybody. Ms. Marvel + Carol, Fury, & Monica. America Chavez & Dr. Strange. Kate & Hawkeye. It’s comedy gold but also character work, humanizing world-weary adults, reminding them what they’re fighting for.

I was fixated for several years and even got a picture at FanExpo, but let’s be real. Jon Bernthal’s greatest acting triumph is convincing millions of people that he’s “for the streets” when he went to Sidwell Friends and his sister-in-law is Sheryl Sandberg.
