Doing a polymer hydrogel lab for mechanical engineers, and 9 out of 10 ask if they can eat it. And one actually did.

On the other hand, the cow is happier and so is our climate. Oat milk goes perfect with coffee!
Your soy-milk latte not only tastes different than the whole-milk version—it flows differently too. How milk flows affects everything from how long it lasts on a shelf to how it feels in your mouth. #chemsky 🧪
This is an extremely valid point. I use AI, and my students do (too much unfortunately) as it can be good. But you must know how to learn first!
The purpose of studying anything isn't the subject itself but to learn how to *think* like an expert about it. People outsourcing their thinking to genAI are not learning how to think, at all. Part of the cognitive atrophy that genAI immediately induces is no longer being able to understand this
I'm devoping a free,, OS, chem. Research org. System (ELN with mol. Drawing, inventory etc) and would be looking for beta testers and bug finders soon. If interrested write to jonsun at dtu.dk
But hey, it's Nature!
🤦♂️Not again: Nature's "Scientific Reports" is spamming me exactly in the same way as all the predatory journals out there... ...the 'Guest Editors' not even made an effort to look up the names of the "Dear Professor", nor their expertise #ChemSky #CompChemSky #PiSky #ResearchIntegrity

Hey, did you know we got Co2 electrolysers that can turn waste gas into useful chemicals? We could just set up a circular manufacturing economy if we want to skip all that war for oil stuff. Anyone? #EnergySky #ChemSky 🧪 engineering.washu.edu/news/2025/In...

Flight books, hotel reserved, Material Society Spring Meeting is less than .... a few weeks away. (This will be my only long-trip this year, and did none last year so I feel I can do it with some semi-good conscientiousness)

I don't drink anymore. But my anti-anxiety meds get me wired up some times. So now I have a photo frame of Waylon Jennings on my office wall. Greatest country singer of all time! #chemsky

I put up the code on github.com/sfmlab/mole2d for anyone wanting to test it. It's full f bugs, but works if you just need to draw a molecule here and there. :) And I'm working on making it much better (and part of a bigger suite)

Is anyone using GitHub/CoPilot to develop chem-based apps? I'm not decidedly pro or anti AI, but we lost license to ChemDraw and it took me less than a day using Github with GPT model to create a ChemDraw clone that serves 99% of my purpose. It writes, tests, and corrects the code autonomously....

New UV/Vis from Ocean Optics arrived today. It really lives up to the compact product name. Oo Will ultimately be setup for in-line flow measurements for adsorption and continous flow synthesis. 💣
